About You
Really enjoyable insight day, met lots of amazing people and inspiring women on the insight day. Gave me a true insight into the areas I’m looking to go forward into. Was brilliant for finding out information and asking questions about specific areas before entering the firm. Was good for socializing and meeting lovely girls.
EY were very welcoming and friendly. They embraced openness and questions, nothing was off topic. Having a table mentor really allowed us to get to know the people who work there and really get a feel for the EY family. The speakers were brilliant at giving an insight into the further progression available. The EY family is truly a good community that I would be honored to join.
The guidance available was fantastic during this insight. Sent out weeks in advance the handbook gave us guidance on what to expect, what to wear, the agenda, where to go and other miscellaneous details that really helped, the fact that they were well in advance also allowed me to plan everything. EY were really good with support to travel to the insight day.
The skills will help me in the future in terms of my presentation and teamwork, it was a valuable learning experience that will help me in all of my studies.
The Company
The insight was incredibly structured. I felt they used the time appropriately, allowing us to relax while also getting the most out of our time. The first day was more speaker based and the second day was more group work. I would’ve preferred if the activities were mixed through the day instead.
I found the insight day really fun and interesting. EY allowed us to socialize in breaks and lunch which was good. In the evening bowling created a fun and easy going atmosphere for all of us. The second day I found it quite tiring day and hence the atmosphere was a bit lower due to the reduced energy.
EY did really invest in me in this insight day. They provided us information about success at selection, the next step, and other helpful hints and tips for individual success. Along with group presentation this allowed us to develop our skills and teamwork. I would have liked more individual development but understand this is difficult with so many people.
The insight day thoroughly helped to understand working for EY. The people who work there were completely honest about he work load and hours which was refreshing. It was nice to have people tell you straight how much you are working and it really does allow you to know what you are entering into. The insight day also helped me to have greater knowledge into the area I’m looking to go into. Being able to speak to each department allowed me to ask the questions I wanted and get a grasp of the work and people.
The company culture was evident from the insight day. It is clear they all get on well and like the people they work with. I know each department socializes and gets on well. However it seems different departments do not socialize often.
The insight day was invaluable for letting me get my head around which area and which company I want to work for. Being able to speak to each area clarified some of the questions I had and I have nearly decided which area I want to pursue. This insight day also helped me to decide EY will be the company I would love to work for in the future.
Everything Else
My travel and accommodation was paid for by the hotel. This was booked well in advance and was arranged well. However any extra expenses eg food were not reimbursed if I had to pay for myself. Food during the main part however was provided.
Company employees were available constantly for contact and questions. Having a person at each table enabled this along with company employee speakers. The best was the quick fire socializing, this was 5 min with each department that really allowed me to meet lots of different employees from all of the different departments.
The networking opportunities with he employees was adequate. Unfortunately meeting them so briefly meant it was difficult to exchange details or follow up. However socializing with my peers was fantastic! I really bonded with the girls in my table group and felt this socializing has allowed me to form a network with them for the future.
It was mentioned that activities took place however it wasn’t focused on. The networks within EY seemed very good, such as women network. However I didn’t really hear about many activities outside of the work hours.
I would definitely definitely recommend this insight day to everyone! I found it invaluable and it has given me a huge insight into EY and the professional service lines within. I really enjoyed this experience and would love to do it again. I would recommend to everyone to take part.
