About You
I really enjoyed the insight. The people and staff were really friendly. Everyone was so accomdating and willing to answer all our questions. It was very well instructed and organised which made the day run very smoothly. It gave great insight into the different service lines that EY provides and was a great opportunity to see the functionings of one of the Big 4 firms.
The general vibe in EY was very friendly and welcoming. Hearing from senior how they were really enjoying themselves was really reassuring. This was reflected on the insight through the staff but also the people selected on the course. This shows that EY really respects and looks after their people.
The insight was only for 2 days with 100 people so we did not get close interaction with senior people in the firm. We were divided into different groups and placed on tables. On each table was a mentor who was a graduate. This was useful because they could tell us about the application process and what they did day to day
The skills I learned was to be analytical, pay close attention to detail and have good presentational skill. I do Geography a non finance degree. The skills I learned in this insight i already use in my course but it definitely helped me improved and better on my existing skills.
The Company
This insight was structured very well and HR has spent so much timing ensuring that it ran very smoothly. I definitely did not feel bored and over two days our days were packed with interesting speakers and information of tax and assurance. We also were given breaks so it was not too intense.
EY is such a friendly firm and this was definitely reflected in the insight day. The friendliness was definitely reflected in the staff that work there and the people they selected. It shone through how EY really cares about the people in their business and how this is a very people orientated business
It was difficult to have close interactions with staff there because there were loads of us. However, EY was good in letting us discover our strengths and weakness through giving us assignments and group projects. Also giving us tips for the asssessments centers and interviews shows that they really want to help us.
This insight really helped me understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the firm. Listening to women who have children be able to work from home or part time is very useful in invisioning a future career in EY and how they like to retain you.
This insight was very helpful in helping me understand the company culture. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. The company really encourages you to be yourself and friendly. Listening to so many people who work there say how this is a great place to work in really highlights the amazing company culture.
This day only focused on tax and assurance which was useful but it would have been more helpful if we could hear from TAS and advisory sectors. I also think that having more hands on experience would have been good to understand the day to day work of people in the different service lines
Everything Else
There was not really many networking opportunities but after each talk there was some time to talk to speakers. There was a speed networking opportunity were we could have networked frlm people in different departments which was very useful and insightful. But otherwise that was the only opportunity we had.
Yes I would. It was a great opportunity to understand EY culture and really get a feel off what the company is like. It was also a great experience to get a feel of working in an accounting firm and what they do. I really enjoyed my time and would recommend it.
