About You
I found this experience highly insightful. It was an amazing method to discover the culture of EY personally and have the opportunity to talk to people from different backgrounds. I thoroughly enjoyed my time, as there were many interactive activities as well as speeches. It was much more fun than I originally expected.
When talking to other members of staff from EY, no matter their background, I felt respected and valued. And most importantly, I felt that the employees were being very honest and had no intentions of hiding any information, so I felt respected that they were able to talk to me naturally without sugar coating anything.
I felt that the insight day was organised very well. There was support whenever you needed it, so they always had someone that you could approach. We sat in tables and we all had a table host which could guide us throughout the event, which is the main reason why I felt the insight day provided sufficient support.
The skills involved in the days’ activities, such as teamwork, communication, listening, etc., were very important as they’re easily transferable to daily work whether at university or beyond. The information received was also highly valuable due to the fact that I heard so many peoples experiences and that is invaluable information that has made me feel more confident in my career choices.
The Company
The insight says were very well structured in general. I feel that it would’ve have helped us to inform us beforehand about the social arrangements because many people did not know whether there would be provided transport or not. This meant that if somebody was new to London they really struggled getting to the social afterwards, but overall it was very well structured.
The general atmosphere was fantastic. The people, whether the organisers of the event, or my peers who participated with me, were all very friendly and approachable. Therefore although everyone was taking the event seriously, the atmosphere was quite relaxed and comfortable. This made the experience much easier considering there were so many opportunities to network with people.
I feel that EY genuinely spent time to carefully design the programme to suit our needs as an undergraduate. The interactive activities were special as they were similar to things that we may end up doing in the future and helped me understand more about the work available in the future.
I feel that listening to the employees’ experiences really helped me understand what having a full time role with EY would be like. The panel event in particular was very informative and it was an opportunity to ask questions that you wouldn’t usually get answers to through other means, eg their website.
Actually being able to visit their office and meet the staff at EY was very insightful in helping me understand the company culture because this experience of meeting people in person is much more believable than what you hear about the company culture. Therefore after having talked to many people working there I got the vibe that the company was genuinely very friendly and focussed on people culture.
The information about the panelist’s thoughts abd experiences about the company was very useful. Also, as most of us are unsure about our future career path, they really did give us enough information to help us understand all the service lines they provide. This really helped me in my choices for my future career.
Everything Else
They are very accommodating and generous in their reimbursements. So it was much more convenient as they would reimburse up to £150 but even people that used more to travel here were reimbursed, eg for flight tickets. Also, the provision of the hotel made it much more convenient for us all.
Yes, the full day was packed with networking opportunities. This includes with the staff at EY and other participants of the event. There was actually an event called speed networking that made it very easy to communicate with employees from different service lines and different teams. It was great to talk to so many people in person.
The social was very fun and the place was accommodating for all types of people.
Yes, a lot of people that spoke to us also mentioned their social life and how EY actually allows you to have other events.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this to a friend as I found it very insightful.
