    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Overall, EY offered a very insightful 2 days and I would recommend students to attend if possible! I learnt a great deal and was able to speak to a range of people I would not have been able to get into contact with otherwise. I particularly enjoyed the more hands-on nature of the second day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • There were quite a few more people on the program than I had expected. But, the key thing is that this did not take away from how valued you felt at all! I really felt valued and that they care about each individual. The mentors at each table was a great touch.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • So a mentor was assigned to each table. I really loved this idea as it can feel quite intimidating talking in front of a large group so splitting us up was genius. Also, I liked that the mentors also switched around because we got to have a range of opinions and talk to different employees at different levels which again, was a great idea.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have to mention that the second day was a lot more interactive and thus felt more fun! We were able to brainstorm in our teams, conduct mock assessment centres and really draw upon our talents and nurture them in a supporting environment. The atmosphere within each table was lively and encouraging as well. I feel as though I've picked up so many new skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Both days were very organised. I really liked that the structure of each day was readily available to us. None of the talks felt too long as there were several breaks that allowed us to take a breather and relax before starting on the next task. As a type A personality (or blue!) where I really like organised things, I appreciate this!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • This was the best! The atmosphere was lively and great. I actually came with someone I know but I like that we were placed on different tables as you got to speak to people from all over the UK and different personalities meshed together, but in an unexpectedly good way.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were able to develop ourselves and our skills. On my table, we were able to present to the mentor and she provided amazing feedback on areas to work on for each of us and some tips for the assessment centre. I feel as though EY really invests in us as we are fast-tracked for futute opportunities, also!

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Before attending this event I would not have been able to tell you much about the service lines at all. I have been to a few other insight days where no firm really tells you about what they do, but EY was great at this! They relayed what each of the service lines do in a personable, relaxed way that made things really clear for us to understand.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • EY is a people's person firm. This was reiterated several times and backed up by the many employees I met throughout the day. When you start, you are assigned a buddy and a mentor to help you fit into the company and be made a part of the team. I love this!

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I have a rough idea of where I want to go in the future. I did feel as though there was a bit of a highlight on audit and tax, so I would have loved to hear a bit more from the smaller service lines as well. Overall, however, we received a great insight into each service line which will shape my decisions in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As a Londoner, this wasn't really important to me as I have a travelcard. However, if I was commuting or attended a university outside of London I am aware there were travel and accommodation expenses that were able to be paid if required. I just did not need it. I would have taken advantage of this if possible.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • This is somewhere EY can work on! I really, really enjoyed the networking opportunities on the first day but it took place in a really small room and so often I wasn't able to hear myself or the employee speak. Please expand to a bigger room or even remove the tables in the presentation room and let it take place there. However, I still really enjoyed networking and felt as though I learnt a lot from different people.
