About You
The programme is very well organised and the talks are very informative. There are interactive sessions as well which allows us to apply the knowledge gained through the talks. The programme is mainly focussed on Tax and Assurance business lines but there are opportunities to explore other sectors such as TAS and Advisory through networking opportunities.
I feel valued as the staff were very friendly and treated us well. They also provided a lot of information and tips on how we could succeed in asssessment centre and interview. They also explained the next programmes available for us. The facilities and accommodation provided were excellent, showing how they valued us as participants and potential employee of the company.
There is a host for each table group to guide through each case study or workshop. Not only did the host guide us on the case studies, but she also shared with us insider’s perspectives and personal experiences of working in EY. She also gave us some tips on how to be successful in interviews and assessment centre.
There was a session on presentation which not only helped us develop technical skills but also generally useful skills such as public speaking and team work. I believe that this will be useful for university projects that require presentations and for future work presentations. The skills developed include technical and non technical.
The Company
The programme had reasonable timing. It did not start very early in the morning and did not end very late. There were sufficient breaks in between the sessions. The speakers were very experienced employee who could give very useful insights on the company. The schedule was also very clear.
Everyone was very friendly and genuinely interested in the activities. I like how they did not assess us in the case studies like how other companies do in their spring weeks. This makes the atmosphere a lot better as we were not under pressure and hence could contribute better ideas in the discussions.
The networking session was really useful to get to know what is it like to work in each department. The talks are very detailed which include information on what to expect if you get into EY such as typical day to day of a tax advisor and consultant in EY.
There was a talk on diversity and inclusion at EY which helped me understand how EY really values diversity in the company. The speakers also explained the programmes and support available for female workers in EY, such as the Women Network and maternity leave in EY. The people were also very friendly which shows the friendly working culture at EY.
Everything Else
There were networking opportunities which included speed networking and a game social event. The speed networking session was very useful as I got to interact and speak with representatives from each division to get a better idea of each division. The people in the networking sessions were all very friendly and were happy to answer any questions.
There were not a lot of talks which explained other activities that we could do outside of work. However, some representatives from the different societies in EY explained about the societies in EY such as the Women Network and the LGBT network which we could join and be involved in.
