About You
I have hugely enjoyed the insight. There has been loads of opportunity to ask any questions and interact with current employees. Meeting and hearing from so many inspiring people has really helped my to seriously consider my future goals and career. Everyone has been so honest and genuine. This has been an invaluable experience.
Everyone involved in running the event has been amazing at giving up their time to help out. People being willing to share their experiences and offer assistance wherever they can has really made me feel welcome and cared for. The people culture at EY has really come across from this day.
During the event, we have had constant exposure to current staff members who have been able to assist and support. Our table host was amazing at guiding us through the tasks and keeping us on track with what we should be doing. She really helped us to stay focused on our goals.
The skills I have developed and the information I have received has been truly invaluable. I have found out so much more about all of the service lines and the different careers available. I have also learned much more about the progression opportunities and routes available within the organisation here.
The Company
The insight has a really good structure. The day was well broken up into different activities and stages. Having lots of breaks and networking opportunities helped the day to run smoothly. Frequent question and answer panels were also a great experience. There was also ample opportunity for us to feedback to each other and the organisers.
The atmosphere was really friendly and caring. Everyone has made me feel welcome and cared for. I think the people culture of EY has been well represented. Valuing people is super important to the company and this is truly evident during the event. The emphasis on working together and helping out makes the atmosphere super friendly.
There was opportunity for everyone to feedback and to have a go. There were opportunities to present, carry out research and analysis and solve case studies and problems. Everyone is truly there to take time and make sure you get the most out of the event. So much time investment in helping out and giving genuine insights.
There was a chance to enter the EY offices and see the real working environment of a member of staff. We also learned so much about the different departments within the business and what each one entails. We could ask the staff members about what their jobs entail and what they do day to day.
The company culture was discussed a lot. Mainly the focus on people and the value of working well with others. Being able to bring your own personality and skills to the job and make a real difference in your service line. I have really got a feel for company culture which has been amazing.
This has been invaluable in helping me decide on a career path. They have gone in depth to explain the progression routes available in the firm and the different roles available. This has also helped me to explore professional services as a sector to understand more about the industry as a whole.
Everything Else
The two day event was an unpaid insight. However, if you were travelling a long distance, train tickets were reimbursed and a hotel room available for the adjacent nights. Shorter travel needs were not reimbursed, however this is okay because it is not very costly. Still worth travel costs to attend this event.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking. We met many people from all different roles and levels within the firm. There was a speed networking event where we got to speak to a lot of different people in a short space. There was also opportunity for more in depth networking one to one with some people.
There were loads of networking events during the day. There was also a social in the evening where we got to spend time and bond with each other. We did bowling and other things like ping pong. We got to eat together and spend time building strong relationships to last.
We found out about different networks and socials that exist within the organisation. We particularly learned about the womens network in the organisation. There seem like a lot of opportunities in the company to spend time with colleagues and build strong bonds. The focus on building strong teams is backed up here.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. And anyone else who would listen! It has been a truly amazing experience and has fulfilled all my expectations. It has been so helpful in thinking about my strengths and weaknesses. It has helped me to consider carefully my future career.
