About You
I enjoyed the two days, but the lack of interaction on the first day caused me to feel quite drained at the end- there was a lot of absorption of information, the networking was very engaging but this made up just one part of the end of the day .
I think that the size of the programme was quite daunting- taking over 100 students for a programme like this meant that the experience felt less personal than it could have. However the talks and speeches we had were very encouraging and helped for motivation for both working for EY and in general.
The organisers of the event were very helpful and friendly and approachable. This was a very question focussed event, and they did a good job of tying up all loose ends by the finale of the programme, and I do believe that the information we were given was honest and real.
It wasn’t really an event designed to help me with my degree- but we practised plenty of assessment centre skills which can be applied widely to other aspects of life, it wasn’t about providing us with industry specific skills or technical skills, but more application focussed which will be useful post degree.
The Company
I was very impressed with the programme organisation- we received emails with the timetable of the event and specific details about who the speakers were going to be etc. Weeks before the event, and the time keeping during the event was very impressive given the amount of people attending it.
The people attending the event were very friendly- there wasnt the horrible competitive atmosphere that a lot of people dread. The EY staff that we met were all incredibly friendly too, and answered all of our questions honestly and without hesitation. We also had a great lunch and The hotel was a great venue.
This wasn’t a very personal event- the information was invaluable but not personalised. It sounds as if once you join the firm they will invest a lot in You in this area, but on discover EY there wasn’t any individual feedback provided really, much more group based feedback and comments
It’s hard to judge because I assume we will never know what it’s like until we get there - but I did feel like that was thE aim of the EY women in business insight day; and we were given plenty of opportunity to ask EY employers about their day to day job
Again, the women in business discover EY event was very much designed to put across the peopl culture of EY, and they came across very well and I do feel like I had an honest insight into the company’s culture. Again we won’t know until we work there but they were very convincing!
I haven’t fully decided, as there are so many subdivisions within EY that I will need more time to consider where I want to go in my future- but they have certainly convinced me that EY would be a great place to work and develop my career and as a person!
Everything Else
Their reimbursement system is brilliant, they actually booked my transportation for me and I just had to collect my train ticket from the station- and they reimburse up to £150, which seems like a very generous amount, and booking tickets for you prevents the delay in receiving repayment after event
At discover EY women in business; we were given an employee on each table that we could ask questions- so we could network from the off. We then had plenty of opportunity to network during “speed networking” which was just an hour long but we met employees from every service line
