    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This programme has been very enjoyable, the organisers made efforts to create an interactive atmosphere at every stage. The EY staff were also very friendly and approachable which made us feel comfortable enough to ask them questions directly. The location, the Hilton Hotel, was also lovely as it overlooked the MLP building - it was very inspiring.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Every single EY staff member was so friendly and approachable. They all made great efforts to assure us that EY does indeed want to help us to improve ourselves through training or career support and that their aim to build a better working world is ingrained into the informal system of the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a lot of advice provided in terms of the application process for internship/graduate job but also advice for career progression at EY. There was also so much valuable advice given to us by women working at EY who really inspired us to be embrace opportunities and lean on there available support systems.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This experience was a very good taste of teamwork, especially as we were grouped with people we had never worked with before. This course required us to apply our knowledge to real life situations through the case studies and this approach allowed me to step back from all the theory I learnt to realise its value and relevance.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The programme was very well sturctured - the organisers kept to time very well and there was a nice mix of interactive sessions and panel/keynote speeches. This allowed us to be constantly engaged - the speed networking session was especiallt useful but by the end of the day I was exhausted!

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All the candidates were really wonderful to meet - the regular breaks and networking sessions allowed us to get to know each other really well. There were about 10 of us sat at each table and everyone seemed very positive and driven which was a really inspiring environment to be in.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This was only a 2 day placement and the first day consisted of key note speeches, panel interviews and the speed networking session which was a really good fast overview of the different service lines - it would have been great if it was longer. The second day was useful to develop our teamwork and presentation skills

    2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I am still unclear about the day to day activities of each of the service lines, the speakers did describe their role as a whole but the explanations were quite general. A day in the life session may be useful. This event was heavily focussed on Tax and Assurance and it would have been nice to know about all the service lines

    2/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There was a lot of good advice about the culture at EY - something that is extensively Written about on the website but it was very reasauring to witness the EY employees commitment to the culture of diversity, inclusiveness and teamwork at EY. This is really attractive to potential applicants.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This 2 day event was an excellent taster of a role at EY - obviously not all my questions were fully answered - some things can only be picked up by work experience - but I would definitely recommend people to apply to this programme, both men and women alike.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • There was reimbursement available for travel and accommodation was provided. However candidates from London were not reimbursed for the tube, I believe. As this was only a 2 day event, this was not an issue but it would have been nice. The food and refreshments provided were very good and very frequent.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was a speed networking event on the afternoon of the first day. It was 5 minute sessions with employees in different service lines. It was in the MLP building which gave us a taste of the working environment and the employees were very approachable. It would have been nice if the stations were 10 minutes long as this was the best session of the day.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were regular breaks during the day which allowed us to network. The table set up in the conference room was really lovely, we all got to know each other really well. Each table also had a table host who was an employee so she was readily available to answer any questions we had.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This wasn't really elaborated on in terms of what EY as a company offers. However all the employees spoke at length of the importance EY places on individuality and brining their diverse experiences and background to the work place to ensure better business. There were a lot of travel opportunities detailed, especially in the assurance department

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this experience to a friend it was a brilliant taster of EY which encompassed the role of employees in tax and assurance, the culture at EY, the vast opportunities for growth, travel and the brilliant support network the company has for its employees. It has really highlighted areas for me I can work on myself and find out more about what I'm interested in
