About You
Was absolutely fab. The first day was just learning about the different service lines and meeting employees and asking questions. The second day was doing group work and practicing presentation skills, for like assessment centres. Everyone was so nice, the staff and the people there. Although it was women in business, there were a few boys too.
I felt like EY were really trying to sell themselves and spent a lot of time and a fist amount of money on us. The social on the first evening was at a small bowling alley where there were tons of games and pizza and we all had so much fun.
We were assigned tables for the two days and for each table there was like a table supervisor who helped us with everything and answered all our questions. There were other members of staff who were walking round answering stuff. Before coming to the programme we were given lots of information.
I don't think anything I learnt will help me with my degree as it's not relevant. But what we learnt will definitely be helpful if I get a summer internship or a graduate role. It's also been super helpful in deciding that I want to persue a career at EY.
The Company
Everything was very well structured and stuck to the time. All the staff knew exactly what was happening and when. We never ran over and on the last day we finished at like 3.15 so plenty of time in the evening. They also let you know before the programme what you would be doing.
Everyone here was so nice and it was such a chill atmosphere. At other apron weeks, you really felt like it was a competition but this just felt like you were just trying to learn as much as you could and then make friends, which was so easy. I'm hoping that I'll meet all these girls again.
I think mostly they invested time rather money. We had a lot of talks from some very senior people. Which was great. Perhaps more usefully, we talked a lot to people in graduate roles. The recruiters spent a long time on applications and interviews to really chose the best people.
This gave such an insight into working at EY and made it feel so positive to me. I absolutely want to work here in the future and I wasn't thinking that before these two days. Everyone really emphasised what a nice firm EY is. And I really value that to be honest.
Same as I said before. Because it was a woman in business programme, there was a lot of emphasis on the women's network and working towards equal pay which you absolutely want to know before joining a company. There was also a lot of talk about the flexibility of the company.
It was exactly what I needed as I really didn't know what I wanted to do before I came here. They gave a very broad insight into all their service lines which was incredibly interesting although there was an emphasis on assurance and tax. I think everyone came away with their minds made up.
Everything Else
There was a networking event in which we went round in groups and talked to so many departments. There wasn't very long to talk to them and the room was incredibly loud but when you could hear, it was very useful information! There was also a panel event with more senior people.
Yes many as I have said. They were very useful. The social was very fun.
Not really. They mentioned that they encouraged people to get involved in their charity foundation but not much other than that.
Yes it was very insightful and very fun. I learnt so much.
