About You
I enjoyed it very much because I met a lot of talented and interesting women who are as excited about their careers as I am. I spent time socialising as well as learning a lot about the company and what it has to offer.
I felt very much valued because all of the speakers (women who work at EY) continually reminded us that since we have gotten to this stage of the process of joining the company we are the kind of people they are looking for. I also felt valued because the company is focused on improving the gender pay gap and is in the top 50 female employers, which makes me feel appreciated as a woman and confident that it’s a company in which i will be appreciated and supported.
I received a lot of guidance- any questions I had in regards to the company, different service lines and different jobs were answered in details. Our mentors explained to us what’s it like working at EY very well and also helped us through any questions we had in regards to activities and what we did during the day.
During these insight days I absorbed so much information and gained a lot of valuable knowledge about the job, the company and the skills that I will need to succeed at EY. It helped me get an understanding of EY’s culture, which appealed to me very much, and of how to successfully join the company. I also got a clear understanding of what to do next and which programs I can apply to and when.
The Company
It was a well structured program. During our first day we listened to a lot of speakers, who were very friendly and made me feel comfortable and confident about my choice- EY. I was able to ask a lot of questions and find out why they chose the service line they work in, their backgrounds and etc. During th second day we were able to get more experience and apply the knowledge that we learned on the first day. We had a mock assessment centre and two presentations. I found this really useful because I have never been to an assessment centre before and now I feel confident and prepared for the actual assessment centre. We got a lot of feedback from our mentors about our performance. I felt worried at first but my colleagues, other students, and our mentors, were all very friendly and that helped a lot.
The atmosphere during the intersnhip was amazing. Everyone was really friendly, interesting. Not even for a moment did I feel bored or tired, even though we were learning during the whole time. It was a very fun and enjoyable experience, at the same time very useful both in terms of acquiring skills and networking. I made many friends and hopefully with some of them will have long lasting relationships
The company invested in us a lot during this short time- we were taught a lot about everything to do with the job and were taught how to imrpove our strengths and excell in the future.
The insight helped me fully understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. All of the details were covered.
I learned all about the company’s great culture- it is very carind and supportive of its employees. Flexibility is one of its main focuses.
It was very valuable for this. I am still deciding which exact team I would like to work in, but I now understand what the work is like in every one of the teams, which skills are valuable in which teams and where my skills would apply well. So i can now choose what i will enjoy and be good at in the future. I am also confident that EY is a place i would like to work at in long term.
Everything Else
It was not a paid internship but expenses were reimbursed up to 150£ for travelling costs and great accomodation (Hilton Hotel) with convenient location- same venue as where the program took place- was provided for those who were travelling from outside of London.
Yes- on our first day we took a trip to the EY’s main office in tower bridge and there we met employees of the company from all of the different teams there are. We were able to ask questions and listen to them tell us about their job and why they chose it.
The networking and social activities were really fun and useful. I enjoyed those- they were fun and relaxing and at the same time valuable. I made lots of friends who share same passions and hobbies as me while we were having drinks and pizza and bonding while playing bowling!
I focused mostly on work activities because I wanted to find out all about different service lines and decide which one I want to go into. I was not really looking to find out about outside sctivities I can get involved in, so that’s not something I learned during this time. However, i did learn that depending on the service line you choose to pursure work in you might get to travel a lot- if that is something you want to do.
I would definetly recommend the program to my friends, because while it’s a short programme, which you can easily find time for, it is also very packed with activities and allows you to learn so much information during a short period of time. In addition we were well fed, 3 times on the first day, and twice on the second day and the venue was amazing! On the first day there was also a social event which was fun- drinks, food and bowling, which is not something other internships offer.
