About You
Very informative and insightful. The networking opportunities as well as the interactive sessions made the programme useful and enjoyable. Going over real case studies was important because we get to understand the company's practices and values better, while figuring out whether we would be a good fit for the role.
Although it is difficult to respond to this question given that the programme lasted 5 days, I would say that it was clear that the HR team and the people from the business did their best to accommodate our learning and our understanding of the bank. For instance, that many people of high seniority talked to us shows that we are important for the bank as we might shape its future.
Most of the programme involved us learning and I believe that was handled very well. I was not left with questions at any point.
My degree focuses on Humanities, which makes this question less applicable to me. However, over the week I was reassured regarding the division I would like to join. I realised a potential area of growth I should focus on and I understood how I should built on my technical knowledge.
The Company
Focusing on our preferred divisions made the programme very interesting. The networking opportunities were well set as well. However, I would appreciate it if all of the divisions offered work shadowing although that would be difficult to set up.
The feedback culture and the values around teamwork the bank has established definitely set the atmosphere of fruitful collaboration amongst the students throughout; we did not see each other as competing candidates, which I firmly believe helped us all. The people from the bank were always open for discussion or questions as well.
To a great extent; fitting different things on our timetables and fully supporting each of them largely made the programme a success. Providing us with some more technical background, though, would have helped.
Even though I am still not able to understand all job specifications, the programme definitely gave me a very representative sense of the culture and the examples that were mentioned or explained helped us realise the scale of operations.
All of the group exercises that involved everyone showed that the bank actually focuses on empowering its people and assist them in reaching their full potential. The DART values that are set seem to be fully followed.
Being interested in Global Corporate & Investment Banking, the day that focused on this helped me make sure that this is appropriate for me. However, I was still not completely clear between the difference in the skill set required Capital Markets and Investment Banking.
Everything Else
We could be reimburshed for traveling costs and accommodation was provided for those who do not study in the city.
A lot of such opportunities were there. We had the chance to work with various people on case studies, to chat with Analysts and Associates, and to get an insight by more senior people during the very well organised Networking Dinner. In all cases, there were representatives from all of the divisions.
Very enjoyable and insightful. It would be nice if some of them lasted slightly longer.
A lot of employees talked about the clubs they have founded that allow them to practice their hobby while networking with other employees. The volunteering opportunities the bank supports are also of utmost importance.
There is a lot to be learnt from an Insight like this; so I definitely would.
