About You
The insight week was an extremely interesting week where I got to look at many different parts of the bank. The people running the week are really helpful and friendly and the locations where the programme takes place are great. They organise sessions which don't just relate to the bank but also relate to future skills that are useful.
They made a real effort to make you feel like you had a great chance to work at the bank after the week. They really cared and always welcomed questions. They treated us like working professionals and not like children.
We got to see many different areas of the firm and got some great insight into the areas which we could be employed in. They were very approachable, were keen to teach us new skills and helped run every activity to the second during the week.
The team focused on encouraging us to sell ourselves to companies and helped to develop the skills we needed in order to be successful candidates in their assessment process. They looked at skills such as working within a team and presenting to large groups of people. These are very useful skills in any degree or workplace.
The Company
Everything was perfectly to time and ran like clockwork. There was always ample time built into sessions to ask questions to speakers and also lots of time to get to grips with any activities we had to undertake.
It was professional but everyone on the insight week go on very well. I met many new and interesting people which I hope I get to meet again!
They gave us time to develop our skills and imparted lots of knowledge on us.
We did some really great work shadowing and spoke to many people within the different divisions within the firm. We also got many different opportunities to ask questions to everyone we met from the very top of some divisions right down to newly hired grads.
We spent a lot of time talking about culture and seeing people actually in the workplace. They spent time talking about what they do and how they do it.
I felt coming into the week that I wasn't sure if that kind of firm would be right for me. I have now left the week knowing that I would be extremely interested in working at the firm fulltime.
Everything Else
They paid for reasonable travel expenses such as train fares. I also know they paid for a hotel room for each individual that needed accommodation in London.
Yes, we had two networking drinks sessions as well as more informal sessions too when people have just come to talk to us from around the company. On top of this, we had a dinner where they got senior members of divisions to come and network and talk to us about the firm.
They were very nice. They made a lot of effort to make them different and also very comfortable. There was a good staff-student ratio at all of these events so there was always members of the firm to network with.
They spoke a lot about the work-life balance and all of the different opportunities that they offer to their staff. They also made a big deal about doing charity work with the firm.
100%. It gave a great insight into the firm and on top of that it was really, really fun! I feel I am in a much better position in my career because of this week.
