About You
Looking back the entire experience completely surpassed all of my expectations and I feel that after only 5 days I now learnt more about not only Asset and Wealth management but all JP morgans other divisions than I had learnt in my entire life beforehand. Has enabled me to finally find a specific and concrete role that I will want to genuinely consider to work in after university.
The support from our HR guides was excellent and they ensured our days ran as smoothly as could be possible. For our group projects, each team was given the guidance of two mentors who each added their own personal advice and was essential in the end product we presented to senior management.
The Company
The amount of useful and varied content that was put into each day surprised me, in spite of the fact that we had to travel between locations up to three times in one day. We were provided with sufficient material and information that enabled all of this to run very smoothly.
Everyone I met on my program, from the fellow students to the HR team was great, friendly and it was evident that practically all of the employees were passionate about their job and really liked JP morgan's culture. This culture pervades the entire program and I was able to experience it in all of the various locations.
The extensive time spent work shadowing combined with the networking opportunities meant that I was able to have all of my queries answered. The honestly and openness that the employees displayed meant that I was able to come to a pretty certain conclusion about what roles I would enjoy and what roles would bore me.
Personally, the main attraction to me now of JP Morgan is the culture and the way the company is structured - something I would never have considered before and something that I used to be believe was never really that important. It is clear that every employee completely buys into the firm's vision.
Extremely valuable and the information that was presented gave me a deep understanding of not only the division I had applied to, but to some extent the entire firm and the Investment banking sector as a whole. Within my division I had applied to, I have been given a deep understanding of pretty much every single team I would have liked to apply to.
Everything Else
Although unpaid, we were provided accommodation in a very nice location in suites which each had a kitchen. The hotel also had free laundry, a gym and was very easy to reach any of the locations. Furthermore, we were given a travel card and food was provided for most meals on every day.
Personally, although they were numerous and useful, I have never been a fan of combining standing up networking with a main meal such as lunch. Considering we had an event over lunch for most of the days this meant that it was hard for me to feel both adequately full but also managing to meet all of the employees who had given up their time to talk to us.
Without this insight I am 100% confident my future career path would have been less certain and potentially much less rewarding. This program has definitely been the best work experience related opportunity that I have as of yet been a part of, and I have likely made friends with other students that I expect to keep in touch for as long as possible!
