About You
The spring week was called Spring into Finance & Business Management and covered the finance and business management division of J.P. Morgan. It was a fun experience overall with a mix of informative sessions, interactive sessions helping us understand how the business works and how the we should approach it, and group exercises.
The company showed that it was invested in all participants development. The people there were extremely pleasant and helpful answering all questions that one may have had about the company or the business. Talking to various members of the company made me realise how the company values and develops young talent.
Following from the previous comments, the value the company puts in its graduate program and its young talent reflects in its guidance and support. During the spring week we got to attend many networking sessions, interacting personal brand sessions, assessment centre training, cv advice, and understanding what is necessary to succeed.
The information received during the spring week was vital to understand what one needs to do in their professional life in order to succeed. It helped understand the work ethic and the approach necessary to make it in the banking world. Short term, it helped realised that the skills gained at university is more important than the knowledge.
The Company
The spring weeks structure was organised and kept everything interesting. On the first day, the sessions were more informative and for us to understand the business. The second day the schedule involved running interactive sessions about our own professional development and a more in depth look in the business. The third day included shadowing sessions and assessed exercises and networking events.
The spring week was nearly fun. The guest speakers were enthusiastic and happy to talk. The HR team was fun and kept things light and fun. Most of all, the other spring week participants were all very firendly, enthusiastic and fun to be around for the three days. Overall the atmosphere was very light and friendly, however also business like.
During the spring week, the company ran many presentations explaining the different functions of the finance and business management division. We had the chance to talk to managing directors and learnt how it is to work full time in the company. We also had large exposure to graduates, who explained the graduate scheme to us and we had the chance to shadow them and see what an hour in their work life was like.
The culture cultivated in the company is one of the company’s greatest assets. Apart from having been explained the mentality of the company, we had the chance to experience it first hand, when talking to more senior members of the company. The openness and collaborative feeling was evident which creates a healthy and productive working environment.
Everything Else
The spring week was a 3 day insight experience. Due to the short time that the program was run for, this did not warrant for a payment to be made. However, all travelling expenses and hotel room stay was covered by the company for those who did not have a residence in London.
Networking is highly prioritised in the company and for this reason, during the program we had the opportunity to network with many graduates, future participants in the J.P.Morgan graduate scheme, and more senior members of the company. At the end of the first day, a fun social event was organised for all the program participants.
