About You
The Investment Banking and Risk Spring Week offered by J.P. Morgan was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the firm and its business lines, as well as being able to meet employees of the firm and many like-minded individuals. It was truly an exceptionally well-organised week, and I would definitely recommend this week to anyone interested in this business area.
I felt extremely valued at the firm. Not only did they organise a week packed with networking and presentations but they even arranged for external firms to come in to J.P. Morgan to train us on our presentation/networking skills. Furthermore, we also had the opportunity to attend two outstanding social events with the rest of the interns.
J.P. Morgan really is a firm that cares about its people. There was a lot of support from junior analysts throughout the week when we were working on a group project, and there was always someone you could talk to if you had any questions.
The amount of knowledge that I have gained throughout this Spring Week is remarkable. The technical skills and soft skills developed throughout the week will truly be invaluable. I'm sure that this Spring Week will shape the direction of my career.
The Company
There was a clear timetable of events throughout the week and this was followed very well. Everything ran exactly to time and each event was seamlessly executed.
J.P. Morgan really does have a friendly, supportive environment. Every employee of the firm was looking out for you and wanted you to perform to the highest possible standard and this fostered an excellent environment to work and learn in.
There were many staff that came to speak to interns, no matter how senior they were in the bank. We had the opportunity to talk to members of the firm from the role of analysts all the way up to Managing Directors. There were two external presentation and networking skills sessions, and two socials in the evening.
A very clear picture of the firm was painted during the week. The presentations on the different areas of business within the firm gave a very deep insight into the jobs available at J.P. Morgan.
The culture at J.P. Morgan was portrayed very clearly. They really do first-class business in a first-class way and the emphasis on their people was conveyed. They care about building long-term relationships.
The week was truly insightful. I came into the Spring Week knowing very little about investment banking, but now feel that I have found my career option.
Everything Else
Travelcards were provided for the commute to their offices. Accommodation was provided for those that did not live close enough to the offices. Breakfast and lunch were provided on all days, and dinner was provided at the socials on two of the nights. These were all paid for by J.P. Morgan.
Yes, there were two main networking opportunities. We were able to meet everyone from the junior analysts to managing directors of the firm.
They were excellent. All the staff at J.P. Morgan were really approachable and friendly and I am still in contact with a great deal of them.
Yes, there is a great deal of extra-curricular initiatives available at the firm: NextGen, BOLD, sports teams and music ensembles to name just a few.
Anyone who is even slightly curious about what investment banking is should apply to this programme.
