    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The 3 days provided lots of opportunities to ask questions and find out about all the different divisions across the bank. It was also beneficial to have the chance to meet a variety of employees from graduates up to senior managing directors. I learnt a lot and really enjoyed my experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I really felt like I was valued as an individual - the HR team definitely knew who I was and what I was interested in which really made a difference. Having a small number of us (about 40) made sure that we all really got to know each other and connect.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were ample chances to ask if you were unsure about anything, as well as there being clear support networks if needed. There were often graduates on hand to answer our questions and help us work through the workshop material which was very valuable, especially being from a non-finance background.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • We learnt lots of valuable skills, from understanding networking to some more technical skills that my degree wouldn't cover. I can definitely see myself using what I learnt in my every day studies as well as taking the professional experience and hopefully being able to apply it in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was very well structured. I enjoyed the set up of a talk/introduction plus then a workshop based on what we just learnt afterwards. This allowed us to really put our skills into practice and consolidate what we learnt/understood from the session. All the extra events were also well organised and ran.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was really excited to be at the firm and was clearly enjoying themselves. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive, with everyone trying their best and helping each other to be boosted upwards. The employees really showed how great the culture was and I think they were a credit to the firm.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were lots of skills sessions to help us develop. It felt like they really thought that helping us would make a difference in the future which was great. Could have benefitted from a bit more specific finance information before some of the workshops as they were quite confusing if you didn't study economics.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Meeting lots of people gave us a pretty clear insight, however, we didn't get the chance to work shadow which I think would have been really enjoyable and shown us what it was like on a more day to day basis which is quite important for future employees to see.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was clear how strongly they believed in their culture which was great. There was a lot of emphasis on being the right fit and really appreciating everyone for who they are. This stood out, particularly because they really pushed the idea of the '3 keys' which was very interesting.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Being able to hear about all the different divisions was really valuable as I was able to make up my mind about what I actually enjoyed and what sounded like my skill sets would suit. It was much better than just being told about one area as then you aren't exposed to all the options.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed for my travel to and from my home to London.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of networking opportunities - some more formal than others. We met employees during a drinks session, as well as during the workshops and talks which was more informal. We also undertook a challenge and the panel was senior employees so that was a good chance to meet people too.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were really enjoyable. It was useful that there were not too many of us as well, as it meant that we could meet lots of people and actually ask the questions we wanted to without being overwhelmed by a huge group. I had a lovely time and found it very valuable.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This was particularly expressed and we made sure to ask what people got up to. It was interesting to hear the schemes that the firm is pushing in terms of ESG and great that people get involved in so many social things, both at work and outside work in their free time.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It allowed for a broad overview (which not all insights do) and they clearly really valued each person on the insight and wanted to invest in us. All the employees were really happy to talk to us and share their experiences and I made friends for life!
