    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a wonderful experience - lots of opportunities to meet different people, both employees and other students taking part. I enjoyed getting to know more than one division of the bank in detail as well as learning some more personal skills that will be very useful into the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like there were quite of lot of people on the week (over 90) and so it was difficult to know whether they knew who each individual was when we were in the larger group. The smaller group sessions made me feel a lot more valued and were very enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were lots of talent team members around who were all really willing to help you and guide you if needed. Everyone was encouraging and supportive so I think that really boosted everyone up. There was a clear structure and it felt like there were clear aims for the week which were definitely met.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt lots of skills, both personal and professional that will help me not just in my studies but also as I start to expand into the professional world. I felt like they really wanted to equip us well which was great and the sessions definitely were useful in becoming more confident.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The week was very well structured and organised which was great. It would have been helpful to have a bit more information about the structure before we arrived, but once we did it was clear what we were doing and it ran very well. They had clearly thought carefully about what we were doing.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was very friendly and there were lots of chances to have chats and get to know the people around you. It was great to be able to see how happy everyone who worked at the firm was, and how much they clearly valued their work colleagues and the firm itself.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They definitely wanted us to learn what was good in a professional environment. They encouraged us to ask questions and we spent a lot of time thinking about our personal brand as well as how important it is to present yourselves well in the professional world which was very beneficial.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think that the work shadowing experience we had was very good for letting us see what a day in the life of an employee was like. It gave us the opportunity to ask questions about what they got up to each day and also see how they interacted with their team members.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was a great way to see the culture as you were immersed in the firm for the whole week. From the HR team to the graduates and senior staff we met, it was very clear what the culture was and how much the firm valued the employees and their attributes.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It gave me the opportunity to understand more than one business area which I was grateful for, especially coming from a non-finance background. I would have liked to have heard about a few more divisions, however, the ones I did hear about were very interesting and I learnt a lot more than I thought I would.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of chances - from networking drinks to dinners, work shadowing and having panel sessions with people who worked their (from graduates right up to senior managers). We were also able to meet people when we were spending time in the different divisions and ask them lots of questions.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Really good - quite noisy though as there were so many of us in one quite small room so would have been better if there had been more space. Also it would have been good to know who we would get the chance to meet before we went to the events.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • It was great to hear about all the things employees do - from the tennis club to volunteering. It also allowed us to learn about their work life balance which was important to lots of us, so that was great. It was also good to see the bank giving back to the community.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes. It was a great week for all the reasons above and definitely a good chance to see if banking interests you. You can ask questions and really get to dig into the day to day life of an employee which only going to the firm can do for you.
