About You
Very insightful week- The program was designed for undergraduates from non-finance backgrounds like me and they did a fantastic job at teaching us about the basics of what an investment bank does. The program gave a good idea of how it would be to have a career at a place like JP Morgan. We had the chance to speak to current staff and also had a training day where we taught by a professional about finance.
They treated us very well at JP Morgan. We had multiple chances to speak to current workers, even ones in very high positions, and were treated very seriously.
One day was completely dedicated to helping everyone be up to date on finance since we all came from such different backgrounds. They also gave us a really useful session on how to take good interviews in the future.
One of the main things I think I learnt is the importance of communication and confidence. We had one particular speaker that really changed how I viewed my fears when it comes to taking interviews. Also, if I choose to do an internship in an investment bank I am much more prepared now.
The Company
The program was well structured. The start of the week was dedicated to teaching us and then the afterwards we had the chance to see a few things in action such as getting to shadow someone on the trading floor or getting the chance to participate in a trading simulation. Some days, especially the training day, were maybe a bit too intensive. However, they did not have that much time so it is understandable that we were given so much information in a short period of time.
The atmosphere was generally good. I wouldn't say 'the fun never stopped' but we were always given something engaging or interesting to do and were kept busy.
They hired a really amazing trainer in finance to come in for a day and that was incredibly helpful.
The program really helped. We had the chance to speak to so many workers and had so many presentations from current workers as well on their jobs.
The program really helped understand the company culture. We were repeatedly shown that there is lots of mobility for workers and that everyone is very nice and treats each other like family.
I think the program was as good as it could have been in this aspect, although because of its short length it's difficult to say that I now know whether or not I'm interested in a career in an investment bank.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed for all travel costs and were provided very good accomodation, as well as a card to travel to and from the office.
We had an entire evening dedicated to networking and also a lunch.
They were very good- the workers seemed really willing to help and answer any questions and were also really friendly.
Yes, various workers told us about charity programs they're involved in which JP Morgan organised.
Yes, I definitely would because it was very informative and worthwhile.
