    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was three days long and very well organized. Upon arrival we received a booklet, detailing important information, tips and a schedule for the three days. From the first day on we were much encouraged to ask questions to make the most of the program and everyone helped us in that. Especially work shadowing sessions were great, because those actually gave an insight into that division and what some of the tasks entailed.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I thought I would not feel valued because I assumed everyone to be competitive. However, surprisingly everyone was very approachable, open and friendly. We received quite some guidance and people were willing to listen to you and explain things to you. Although it was only three days, I felt valued in the sense that the bank believed in me and tried to get the best out of me through the insight. The activities were challenging but mostly fun.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a lot of support and the employees told us that there were no "stupid" questions. Even between each other, they freely ask questions and support each other. The insight provided lots of opportunities to learn and ask for help along the way. Everyone was really willing to answer questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe my communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills were enhanced through the various exercises and the activities sometimes did push us. After being on the insight, I learned a lot about J.P. Morgan in general as well as the Finance division. I left the insight with much more knowledge about what banks do and this knowledge will help me in my studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. Apart from the first day which felt a bit packed and long, all the presentations, events and activities were well organized. Since we had received a schedule, we always knew what to do next and where to be. I liked how each day was packed with more exciting activities so that even the last day was super exciting.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was good, sometimes a bit competitive, but, overall, people were nice and relaxed. You get to meet great people from different universities, degrees but also from different countries. At the end of the last day everyone became quite close, which made activities like the Finance game work quite well because we worked quite well together.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We had work shadowing activities with graduates and that was the fvaourite part of the program for me. The graduates were really informative and told us about their current projects, showed us diagrams, graphs, and really gave an insight into their jobs. It made it easier for me to imagine what it would be like to work in this bank.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I was a bit sceptical at the beginning but after three days of experiencing some of the company culture, I felt the bank had a very open company culture that encouraged guidance, mentoring, diversity and inclusion. The company does a lot of philantrophy and they gave us presentations to show all the extracurricular things that people can get involved in apart from their work.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities to network and meet other employees. Sometimes there were too many people crowded around one person, however, overall you get the chance to speak to a lot of people and the food provided is really delicious as well. You get to meet people from different subdivisions and with different positions, so these events provided quite a good overview of the whole division.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We had networking opportunities every day and a social event on the first day. The social event was fantastic as well, it was in a restaurant where you could play ping pong and we got free pizza. People were really relaxed during this event, so it was quite fun. However, because it was in the evening of the first day, it felt quite exhausting after one long day of presentations and events and we had to start the second day very early as well. So it might be perhaps better to move this event to the evening of the last day.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, they do a lot of volunteering and social work and have so-called BRGs which are like societies, where people who share the same interests get together and organize various events or panel discussions. Supposedly there is some work life balance and you don't need to work too long hours all the time.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommed this insight to a friend. I learned a lot about J.P. Morgan, about the Finance and Business Management division and about the banking sector. Most of my questions were answered and I think the skill sessions and various activities improved my networking and teamwork skills. I also had fun and enjoyed meeting some very interesting people.
