About You
Enjoyed it to a great extent - both my fellow interns and the employees we interacted with were very nice and passionate about why they were there, and the general experience itself was great - good food, great office.
Felt that the firm wanted us there, and wanted us to continue by applying to their summer internships. There were networking opportunities everyday, with employees ranging from junior analysts to senior vice-presidents, which really made me feel that they valued having us there and wanted us to really gain an insight into the firm to decide subjectively and personally whether it was right for us individually.
One thing that was very striking was that all of the employees we spoke to were incredibly willing to answer questions and I felt supported enough to ask any question, no matter how silly I may have felt it to be, because I knew they would answer it like it was valid. No starting knowledge was necessary.
There were very helpful workshops in presentation skills and building your image. There are skills that are worked on in school, and yet the workshops at JPMorgan were very unique and informative and definitely worth listening to.
The Company
Very well structured - networking events, skills workshops, and informative lectures everyday structured so that we could build on and use the knowledge and skills gained from the day before, all culminating in a team presentation at the end of the week that used the knowledge and skills we had gained throughout the whole week.
There was a lot of information to take in during the week, but that's why we signed up to the insight - to learn about JPMorgan and investment banking, so although it could be tiring, it was well worth it, and there were social events and plenty of breaks during the day so that I could definitely say that the overall experience was fun and I would definitely recommend it to others.
Really felt as though the firm was investing in us - we had so many information sessions from senior employees taking time out of their work to tell us about their jobs, and answer any and all questions we had. We also had skills workshops from amazing people at the top of their games.
There were information sessions telling us exactly what the different divisions within investment banking at JPMorgan did, as well as many networking sessions where we could talk to employees to understand what it was like to work in the firm itself. Great thing was that I didn't feel like they were trying to sell the firm to us - they were genuine about what they felt it was like to work at JPMorgan, and then left it up to us to decide whether it sounded like something we'd like to do.
Lots of networking sessions to talk to employees about the company culture, as well as two days having lunch in the canteen like regular JPMorgan employees to understand what that would be like.
Everything Else
Very generous in reimbursing travel and accommodation expenses.
Many opportunities each day.
Varied from asking questions to a person at the front of a room, to one-on-one talks with employees over drinks, to casual socials over food in restaurants.
The focus of the week was on the work they did within JPMorgan rather than their out-of-work activities, but in the many networking opportunities we could definitely have asked about this - I just didn't.
Was brilliant - loved it - thankyou JPMorgan.
