    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The team were all incredibly welcoming and patient when instructing me how to do tasks. The work I received tended to be varied and interesting, although there were a few times when I didn't have much to do.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All very friendly and made me feel part of the team, this continued even after the internship was over.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor worked in my office and was always there when I needed him to offer me advice or guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the whole I never had to stay particularly late. There were occasions where I didn't have much to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Due to the nature of the work I could not be given too much responsibility as I didn't have the right training for it. As the programme progressed however I was given more and more responsibility.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Simple office skills such as memos, emails and filing were all developed and I now have a much better idea of what to expect from a corporate environment.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was necessary to be professional, however everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The week long induction really helped everyone settle into the company. Basic IT training was provided, however at first I didn't have access to some of the shared drives necessary for work I was asked to do.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of time and money was spent in the induction and throughout the internship to make us feel welcome and give us lots of networking opportunities.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The people in the firm really make it what it is. My only concern would be getting stuck within the tax area and a career change not being possible.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Plenty of socials and opportunities to meet and spend time with other interns.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The placement was in London so accommodation and drinks and food were all very expensive.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very expensive, but probably worth it.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • EY has a large group of networks to get involved in, in addition to sports clubs and other activities.

    4/5
