The Role
The team were all incredibly welcoming and patient when instructing me how to do tasks. The work I received tended to be varied and interesting, although there were a few times when I didn't have much to do.
All very friendly and made me feel part of the team, this continued even after the internship was over.
My supervisor worked in my office and was always there when I needed him to offer me advice or guidance.
On the whole I never had to stay particularly late. There were occasions where I didn't have much to do.
Due to the nature of the work I could not be given too much responsibility as I didn't have the right training for it. As the programme progressed however I was given more and more responsibility.
Simple office skills such as memos, emails and filing were all developed and I now have a much better idea of what to expect from a corporate environment.
The Company
It was necessary to be professional, however everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to.
The week long induction really helped everyone settle into the company. Basic IT training was provided, however at first I didn't have access to some of the shared drives necessary for work I was asked to do.
Lots of time and money was spent in the induction and throughout the internship to make us feel welcome and give us lots of networking opportunities.
Company Parties/Events
The people in the firm really make it what it is. My only concern would be getting stuck within the tax area and a career change not being possible.
The Culture
Plenty of socials and opportunities to meet and spend time with other interns.
The placement was in London so accommodation and drinks and food were all very expensive.
Very expensive, but probably worth it.
EY has a large group of networks to get involved in, in addition to sports clubs and other activities.
