About You
I really enjoyed the time at the J.P. Morgan Spring Into Technology Programme. The activities were planned very well. They provided a good insight into the work life at J.P. Morgan, especially the workshadowing events. Other group activities such as the Kanban board activity helped explain the concepts of agile development.
The office had a surprisingly informal atmosphere which allowed me to talk to other employees in the break area and ask them some questions about their work. The people I met at J.P. Morgan were very open and friendly. I feel that the work atmosphere is definitely one of J.P. Morgan's strengths.
The guidance varied from project to project. For example, for the robot challenge, we did not receive a lot of guidance, but that might have been the intention of the activity. In other activities such as the agile development, there was more guidance, as the purpose of the activity was explained very well.
There were a variety of group projects that aimed at familiarising ourselves with certain topics related to software development. For example, the Kanban board activity helped explain the concepts of agile development. Furthermore, the group projects helped build teamwork and effective communication skills. The work shadowing events also helped me because they gave me a clearer idea of how a job at J.P. Morgan would be like.
The Company
The structure of this insight was very good. The agenda was carefully planned through. I did not feel like activities were too long or too short. For the three days that the programme took, there was a lot of activities to do. Splitting the large group of 70 students into two smaller groups definitely helped as well.

Furthermore, the general atmosphere of the programme was very good, allowing me to network with the other participants as well.
This insight definitely gave me a clearer idea of what a job at J.P. Morgan would be like. Especially the work shadowing events gave me a good understanding of what types of jobs the employees have and how the atmosphere is like. Furthermore, the workshops helped to gain familiarity with some concepts (like agile development) that are used in the workplace.
Everything Else
There were some very excellent opportunities for networking as part of the programme. The bowling activity on the first night served as a good icebreaker to strike up conversations with some of the employees at J.P. Morgan. This provided me with some authentic insights on what the employees think of J.P. Morgan.

I talked to the employees and they said that there were a lot of social activities that one can do outside of work. This includes various types of sports, as well as cultural activities. The employees explained that these activities also allowed them to meet other employees in a different atmosphere.
I already recommended this experience to some of my friends in Computer Science. I really enjoyed how the event was organized, and the event provided me with some valuable insights into J.P. Morgan as well as work life in general. I also learned about specific techniques such as agile development.
