About You
Very enjoyable, learnt so much about the bank and about banking in general, as well as about other non-banking skills. Made lots of useful connections
Everyone got along well with eachother, all the bankers were open to questions and were happy to give out contact details.
Huge amounts of guidance on all aspects of banking and risk, we were given mentors to aid us on our projects and they taught us loads of helpful information.
Aside from the presentations on banking and risk we were given presentations on how to build your presence and on how to present effectively, as well as a presentation on interview skills. These gave us skills that can be applied outside the spectrum of banking and will equip us both in our degree and in future careers.
The Company
We were given a schedule right at the start so everything was laid out, we were given enough time to network but still be able to dedicate lots of time towards the final presentation.
Atmosphere was great, all the spring weekers seemed to get along well with eachother.
Each day was packed with activities that were aimed at giving insight into the world of banking and helping us build links with people already at the firm. The group project provided lots of training on things that will be needed in future if we pursue a career in banking.
Significantly. Without a doubt, we were able to network with people across the bank whether people just about to start a summer internship all the way up to managing directors with decades of experience. This gave a comprehensive image of what its like to work at the bank in multiple different roles and stages.
Taught us not only about what the job is like but about what the people are like, so got a good insight into company culture.
Whether or not I pursue a career in banking, its safe to say that attending the Spring Week means that whatever decision i make will be well informed.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed, and while we weren't paid we were provided accommodation and breakfast and lunch on each of the days.
Every day had at least one opportunity to network with people at the bank, this was something that was incredibly valuable as they gave out contact details so the connections built were meaningful and you don't feel as though you were just talking for the sake of it. They were open to answering any questions we had which was immensely helpful in learning more about JP Morgan and banking in general.
Lots of effort was put into networking and social events as they were good in both quality and quantity. We had them everyday and each time you were able to meet people from a different area of the bank. Social events were a good way to get to know other interns who may have been in a different division for the spring week.
Spoke to lots of staff that were members of Business Resource Groups that help to foster leadership or development among employees and students. Also saw lots of employees playing table tennis or going to the gym outside of work.
In my opinion its the best way possible to learn about what its like to work at the bank without doing a full internship, the amount of people you speak to is great and you're surrounded by people that are intelligent and successful so it really pushes you to excel more.
