About You
The opportunity to experience the work of trainees and speak candidly with them about what it's like day-to-day at the firm
Yes - everyone was really friendly and I was made to feel as though the work I was doing was important, and I was generally doing interesting work that would be used for actual clients
I had a trainee buddy and a supervisor in both departments, which meant I had people to go to if I didn't understand something / if I needed work to do
Perhaps not in my degree, but has certainly helped me decide firmly what career path I want to follow and at what kind of firm
The Company
The vac scheme was really well structured - we had a timetable and had events spaced out throughout the two weeks
Everyone was really friendly - both at the firm and other people on the vac scheme
The firm had clearly put a great deal of effort into the vac scheme and it was very much appreciated. We received training on the first day, and we had various skills sessions throughout the two weeks
Although the work perhaps didn't represent 100% accurately the work trainees get involved with, getting to sit with a trainee let me see what the work is actually like.
The company culture came across strongly throughout my time there - this was mainly through meeting a number of people across the firm at associate, trainee and partner level
It was extremely valuable - although I was pretty set on my career path beforehand, the vacation scheme helped cement this for me
Everything Else
We were paid at the end of every week, which was extremely helpful
Yes - there were frequent socials / events to meet trainees, and there were also partner lunches / drinks
There was a range of social events, including lunches, dinners and drinks
Yes - I had the opportunity to attend a Corporate Social Responsibility event at the firm, and some had the chance to attend a legal advice centre
Yes absolutely - great firm, interesting work, excellent clients and friendly people
