  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I participated in the spring week at Barclays. Barclays professionals were eager to exchange with us advice, and talk to us regarding their position and experience. I flet valued, listened. I had the opportunity to ask many questions to have a better understanding of Barclays. I really appreciated my time within Barclays.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Before and during this insight I had support and guidance from the HR team as well as the professionals we had the chance to meet during networking event. They responded quickly to our questions and worries. As I am not from the UK, they supported me for all the administrative duties I had to take care of.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • This insight was well structured. I was an intense week, we have learnt many things from Barclays. I had the opportunity to participate in a debate (I haven't done this before), to take part in networking events, and case studies. The first morning the HR team gave us a schedule in which everything was precized and settled.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was great during this insight week. The HR team and the professionals were supporting us and were eager to speak with us. The other interns were eager to help the others, the general atmosphere was pretty good.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The first day we had the chance to participate in a team group training. The training aims to show us that in a team work there are different personalities and in order to work well together you have a take care about all of the members. In terms of communication, behaviour .. It was really interesting.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This insight week enabled me to spend few days within Barclays to talk to as many professionals as possible, to see how people work together within this bank ... Furthermore, I really enjoyed the work atmosphere within Barclays. The culture, the people working at Barclays, those elements make me want to apply for a role there.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As I am from France, I had the chance to get reimbursed for my transportation as well as my accommodation in London. Furthermore Barclays paid me for this experience. It is really helpful for the students who don't leave in London to participate in that kind of programme because the bank support us.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Indeed there were different networking opportunities during this insight week settled in order to talk to professionals from Barclays. The first we had the opportunity to participate in a networking drinks to exchange with bankers in an informal manner / way. We had also different networking lunchs: one with financiers working in markets and another one with financiers working in banking.

  • Professionals were eager to talk to us, they gave us advice. They told us about their career path, their experiences. They were eager to exchange with us in the next days through emails. They took the time to meet us, to explain to us their job. Those events were really helpful.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • During analyst panels we had the opportunity to lean more about the activities the employees get involved in. Such as societies and networking groups. Those activities and groups enable them to meet financiers from other departments and not only from their team. This element highlights the general atmosphere within the bank.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It is a great opportunity to learn more about banking and markets as well as the culture, and work atmosphere within the bank. This is a unique opportunity to meet many financiers in order to ask as many questions as possible.
