The Role
It was a great experience, very beneficial and enjoyable, a nice place to work.
Felt like they really benefitted from having you there, really liked that we could help them all out with work.
Were given a lot of support while also pushing us to work independently, occasionally when things were busy supervisors didn't always have much time to explain things, but they would do their best
It varied, with some days being hectic and others (particularly into August) being very quiet
Huge amount of responsibility, work you were doing was being presented to clients within weeks of joining
The technical skills were developed aggressively early on, with Excel skills in particular coming on a great deal. Soft skills came more later, and indeed the presentation skills taught will certainly come in useful in the future
The Company
In my division the atmosphere was quite quiet and intense, but always friendly
There were issues at the start as the placement overlapped with the end of many people's university term, but this was eventually resolved
A full week of training at the start, regular performance review with managers, and a full debrief on your performance at the end of the programme. A lot of effort went in to providing us with training software and documents etc.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
A great organisation to be working for, a very supportive atmosphere. Seem to be taking on a lot of people, with good prospects for the future
The Culture
Good, a lot of socialising between interns in the division, both by email and on evenings out/meeting for lunch/company events
Canary Wharf says it all. VERY expensive for anything and everything
Good bars, but very expensive, would go elsewhere to go out
Not a great deal of opportunities to get involved with things with the company
