The Role
The Insight Day was a very enjoyable experience! The enthusiastic employees really helped make it more enjoyable! The team work activity really helped see what your contribution is to a group and the feedback at the end was very useful!
The employees of Ernst & Young at the insight day were very friendly. They wanted you to feel like you were an employee there too and it made me want to work for the company even more! Even though we had one main task, it felt as though it was a proper task for an employee. The feedback in the end of our task was very useful and it felt as though our work was greatly appreciated by them.
The support was very good! Throughout the day all the employees that were there to help were ready to answer any questions and give advice. They really helped giving informative feedback on my performance on the day.
The day was very well organised and the team work task had kept me very busy. There were also plenty of snack breaks were I could ask any questions I had and get to know about what it is like working for Ernst & Young. Overall there was a very good balance of breaks and tasks.
We had a client meeting and it felt like I was doing very important work. As a group we were told to organise our own time to complete the task. Individually we had to decide ourselves how much we contributed and because the group wasn't too big we were able to share out the responsibilities well.
The team work activity was something that has been useful to me when having internship interview's. It was a great experience to talk about. It was a very good activity were I realised where my strengths lie. It also helped me realise that Ernst & Young was a company I would really like to work for. Meeting the employees and talking to them helped me answer all the questions I had about working in such a large company.
The Company
It was a very happy and friendly atmosphere on the day. It was very relaxed but during the task there was a bit of pressure which was very good to experience! There were plenty of people to talk too!
It was very well structured with lots of breaks and activities as I have mentioned before.
The day overall felt like a great experience which helped me realise my strengths and helped me develop my skills. On the day it seemed like the company invest a lot in their employees!
The insight day showed that Ernst & Young really care about it's people and it's client. It's a "people orientated" business, more that other companies which I made Ernst & Young more appealing to work for.
The Culture
I made good friends with the people I had met and a lot of them had similar interests to me as we all wanted to work in the same field.
The cost of living in Edinburgh is generally o.k. There are many places to go to socialise and it is all very affordable. Edinburgh has a high student population so it's very affordable to live here if you find the right area.
The night life in Edinburgh is also very good with lots of clubs in the city centre.
It seemed like there were plenty of voluntary activities you can get involved with outside of work. The company is very large so they have many things that you can get involved with which the company supports.
