About You
It was a great insight into the department. It was quite specific to one team, but there were plenty of opportunities to meet people from other departments as well and everyone seemed very approachable.
A lot of people were open to talk to us and I received some actual work, which I believe will be used in a small presentation in the future. Obviously most still had to carry on with their normal work which sometimes limited the amount of time they were able to dedicate to explaining things to us.
As mentioned in the previous answer, people were generally very open, but also couldn't stop their own work for us. In general though they helped where they could and were very supportive.
In my studies, I believe that the insights into finance will be more useful in the upcoming semesters. Additionally, it was a great way to find out whether this job/industry would be a place where I could see myself working in the future. In that sense it was the most useful I believe even though it was only a week.
The Company
Depending on the teams I think that the very high amount of work shadowing was very good (although here the quality of the experience changed a lot depending on the person/work/team). If HR could be a bit more supportive or encouraging in terms of making the line managers give the interns work/insights+access to the shared drive, this could be improved for some, but overall it was great. Also interesting talks and especially the case study was very interesting and useful!
Most people were very happy, but some people had said that their previous spring weeks had been even better. Might be because they were not so overwhelmed and surprised by all the positive experiences; or maybe a bit more critical in their second/third spring week. Generally, the atmosphere was positive, ambitious, encouraging and supportive though.
Firstly, the company enabled us to meet a lot of people and figure out whether this could be a good career path. Furthermore, the tips for assessment centers will always be useful, but particularly the case study organized by HR was very cool (and Tobias presented it very well).
Still only showed a tiny part of the real work they do. Nevertheless, it does give a good insight into what it's like. Especially for the interns sitting close/with their team it was a very good experience.
Very much. The culture was one of the main topics when talking to the people and could also simply be observed during the many office hours that we had.
I think the high amounts of work shadowing were very useful to help us figure out whether it would be an appropriate career path.
Everything Else
Not sure how much they will actually pay back in the end (the process of documenting expenses is not as clear I believe).
They really encouraged meeting people for coffees; not only from the own team/department, but from all kinds of backgrounds and positions.
Once with senior and once with junior employees.
There were several presentations about the different affinity and volunteering groups and events. Not so much about sport associations or similar things, but those would form on a more individual level I can imagine.
I think these insight weeks are always very interesting in helping to decide in what direction we want to go - even if the decision in the end is that banking or the company is definitely not one's fit; it'll help in the future.
