    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Spring into Technology based in London was highly enjoyable. There was a range of activities including presentations on different topics, talks with people of different seniority in the business, coding challenges and social events in the evening. The social events especially helped to break the ice and to make friends.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued as they paid for my flights, transport and accommodation which was lovely. Employees had no problem taking the time to answer any questions. They also made me feel at ease to ask the questions I thought were silly and did not treat them as silly questions.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There is a lot of guidance and support throughout the experience. During coding challenges there was a mentor per team who was an employee. We could ask them questions relating to the challenge or their experience with the company. There was also insightful panels and people organising it were very helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed and information will assist in my studies greatly. It was a great insight to see how things I had learned the theory behind and to how they were put into practice in the industry. The scale of things in industry was also beyond anything I imagined.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • A rough schedule was emailed prior to the spring insight starting. A more detailed schedule received to on the first day. This was followed very well and was accurate. Only things to run over time were when questions were asked. Employees were happy to stay longer and answer these questions for us.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very welcoming, friendly and surprisingly fun. It was not tense, even while work shadowing the employees were happy and did not have any problem with answering any questions I had even though I was not work shadowing them and it was taking time out of their day.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned previously they paid for flights, transport and accommodation enabling me to attend. The people we work shadowed were very enthusiastic and helpful. If I did not understand what they were talking about, they explained it or found a different way to explain so that I could follow what they did daily.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It gave a big insight to what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. The employees were very open about the hours they worked, about the support they receive from managers if things go wrong, their involvement with charities and how involved they are.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave a very good insight into the company's culture. It is very diverse with people from all over the globe. Even the students on the spring insight were very diverse which was an amazing thing to see. The company is very progressive which is very welcoming and encouraging.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the days were helpful in deciding my future career path. The presentations gave insights into the different departments that there are in the company and what those departments do. Senior workers during the networking lunch took the time to talk about our interests and suggest roles that we may like.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid for this experience. My flights, transport and accommodation were covered. There was breakfast included with the accommodation. When we arrived at the company in the morning there was also breakfast available there, lunch was provided every day as was dinner. Food was delicious and varied for different tastes and dietary requirements.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was lots of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company. Networking was encouraged amongst ourselves as members in groups changed daily. Our opportunities also included mentors provided to each team, a senior networking lunch and two networking events in the evening. There was at least one networking event per day.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social events were fantastic. Amongst ourselves it was very interesting seeing how universities in different countries work but similar topics are covered. The social events allowed us to talk in a more relax and laid back atmosphere. The senior networking event was very interesting with a range of opinions to be found.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes I found out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. There is such a range of sports that employees do not know them all but are able to access list to them. How involved the company is in charities was very interesting and surprising. There is such a range and employees are encouraged to find something to be involved in.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes I would recommend this insight. A lot of my questions and fears about placement were answered. I have also gained clarity into the role I want to enter and how this would help the company and industry. Seeing how technology supports a bank was surprising and interesting to see.
