About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at Clifford Chance on the vacation scheme. There was a great balance between desk work, presentations, networking opportunities, and social events. Everyone that I had the pleasure of working with was incredibly friendly and supportive, giving up their vital time to speak me. Overall, a very enjoyable and valuable experience.
I felt well valued throughout my time at Clifford Chance. I was given tasks that genuinely needed to be completed for a client, therefore my team was appreciative of the work I was completing. My trainee buddy regularly emailed me to check how I was getting on, and most people in my department stopped by to say hello on my first day which immediately made me feel welcome!
I always felt well-supported on this vacation scheme, with a good system of support at Clifford Chance. Team members would happily give up their time to explain work to me and I never felt like a burden when I was asking questions or needing support. The junior associates were particularly useful in giving good advice and career guidance.
As I am studying law at university, it was really beneficial to see how the theoretical and academic work is put into practical application. The new skills and knowledge that I developed, therefore, will be useful upon my return to university. Furthermore, I developed an array of transferable skills, such as communication and presentation skills that will benefit me in any future career.
The Company
The vacation scheme was very well structured. On the first morning, we were provided with a timetable of all activities that were planned for the duration of our time at Clifford Chance. Our supervisors were well prepared for our arrival and ensured that we always knew what we were doing.
Despite my initial reservations about the atmosphere, it could have been more different to what I had imagined! There was a great atmosphere and I found the environment at Clifford Chance to be very open and engaging. The Graduate Recruitment Team could not be more welcoming and immediately made us feel at ease.
I felt that Clifford Chance really invested in myself and the other participants on this vacation scheme. The first day was dedicated to a thorough induction session which also gave us the opportunity to find out about different departments. Throughout the scheme, we also had sessions focused on our development. During my time spent with my team, I also felt that they very much invested in my development, providing extensive feedback on all my work.
The vacation scheme is an insightful way of understanding of what it is like to have a full-time role at Clifford Chance. We had the opportunity to meet with staff at all levels of the firm, and we were actively encouraged to ask them questions about their individuals roles and what the work-life balance is like.
The vacation scheme at Clifford Chance provided a great opportunity to find out more about the culture at the firm. During the induction sessions, we had a presentation on the culture at Clifford Chance, which focused on the values of the firm. We learnt more about the firm’s commitment to pro-bono work as well as its commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive culture.
This vacation scheme was extremely useful for helping me to determine my future career path as it gave a comprehensive insight into what working as a lawyer in an international firm is like. As we were doing much of the work that junior associates do, I could really determine whether my skills fit this area of law.
Everything Else
I was generously paid during my time at Clifford Chance.
On this vacation scheme at Clifford Chance, there were numerous opportunities to network and socialise. We had the opportunity to network with junior associate right through to senior managing partners, who were more than happy to answer our questions and provide guidance! Networking sessions included breakfast sessions and a formal dinner.
The networking and social events at Clifford Chance were really enjoyable!
