    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This insight week has been extremely insightful. I had the opportunity to meet many inspirational women across different divisions where I was able to hear about their day to day roles and their overall journey into EY. It has been a very organised programme and also enjoyed its flexibility and diversity.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was made to feel extremely welcomed. Everyone on the team ensured that I had something to do and was well taken care of. Lunch was also provided by the company and so that was very pleasant. On completion of my project I felt as though I was able to positively impact the team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance on this programme, even though it allowed me to be independent. At the beginning of the week I was given a timetable of what I'd be doing for the week, as well as where I would be located. So I was supported very well.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was placed within the technology sector, which is extremely different to my undergraduate degree studies. However, I completed a project on product management. This required me to conduct extensive research and reference the sites where the information was obtained from. This will help me further when completing essays in different modules.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The spring week was very well structured. At the beginning of the week we were given a timetable of everything that we would be doing for the week as well as where we would be. We were also given a project to work on at the start of the week.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was very helpful and was eager to speak with me throughout the week. Unfortunately I joined the team during a very period so I wasn't able to shadow as many people as closely as I'd prefer. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was still very calm and welcoming and I'd definitely like to come back.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm ensured that I was given a laptop with full equipment. This helped me to complete the project/task set to the best of my ability. I was also given a learning journal to write down everything I did through out the week and to assess my own personal development.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • At EY I was able to network with so many people and asked them many questions in regards to their roles and the company. Everyone was extremely open about their journey into EY. This week also taught me a lot about the different parts that complete EY and I am able to decide where I fit into their structure.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through networking with everyone on the team, a common theme I noticed is that EY is very much a peoples firm. Everyone is extremely friendly and is always willing to help you. They have many internal social events, showing the togetherness of the firm. The different building sites also have different cultures so it was nice to experience it.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of each day was tailored to ensuring that I spoke and networked with at least one leading female. I was able to skype call or have face to face meetings with people. I was able to discuss my preferences and also speak about how they got into their particular roles.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for this experience and was paid very well for a one week programme.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to network with different types of employees. I was given a laptop, making it easier to find people to network with.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I was only here for a week so wasn't able to attend social events. Though, I've heard about some of what goes on and it sounds very refreshing.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out lot of this. A lot of these females have their own families and still engage in regular activities.
