The Role
Overall I enjoyed the placement. The responsibility and variety you experience is amazing. It was very tough at times, but also very rewarding. I have learned a huge amount and become more confident. However, occasionally I had to work very long hours.
Everyone was very welcoming and I feel as if my work is appreciated by the majority of the whole team. However, at times I did feel that some members of senior management did not realise the amount of time & effort it took to complete tasks.
My Line Manager always took the time to train me properly on the key skills I needed, and I never felt as if I was hassling her if I needed more support. The time my manager took to support at the beginning allowed me to work more independently as the placement went on.
I have had extremely busy weeks(getting in at 7am and leaving at 7pm!), but also have had weeks where I was needing to ask for additional work as I did not have enough to do to fill the day.
I have been given a huge amount of responsibility - from organising £100k budget events, to liaising with our national accounts to ensure their bespoke marketing runs smoothly.
I have a much better understanding now of marketing in practice. However, a lot of the placement wasn't strictly 'marketing' and overlapped with commercial and operations. I was fine with this as it gave me a better business understanding over all, but it may not be for everyone.
The Company
I got on extremely well with my whole team, and we regularly went for team drinks. Some people have no had the same experience though.
We had regular training sessions but they were very basic. Most of what I learnt was on the job.

This year there are two options: The Grad Scheme and the Talent Track. I am applying for the grad scheme and hoping to be successful but it is very competitive.
The Culture
At the start there were lots of socials with other interns but this became less as the time went on. My team always organised monthly team drinks.
As you would expect in London
Hammersmith itself is not great for going out, but it is easy to get the tube to more exciting places
Yes, there was a netball & running club
