The Role
My job had really good perks associated with it which I actually had no idea about prior to starting and were a real bonus for me. The role is good as everything you do has a real life impact on the company even as an undergraduate. However the job roles remain exactly the same every month and almost become repetitive which was the one drawback
I had a fair few roles specific to myself meaning a little bit of added pressure which I 100% wanted from my placement year anyway. Having that challenge of doing something by yourself which is still essential for the company was great and definitely added to my experience of being valued.
I think the support was good, we were taught the basics from the previous undergraduates before they left. However once they left it was pretty much straight in with not as much support as was really quite necessary for my job role. The tasks required a lot of different procedures and a lot of the time I found myself thinking I hadn't actually been shown a whole lot of things and sometimes had to improvise myself.
In the peak times it was extremely busy, but then there were some months where there literally was nothing much to do. I'd say this was needed though as a small amount of down time to recuperate after such busy periods.
A very high amount, tasks I did were the exact same as full time workers but with the additional smaller tasks for the undergraduates too which made for busy days and a lot of time management. Ideal for a placement year.
I think personally the job role taught me a lot of transferrable skills in Excel, other than that there weren't many things that would be transferrable. But life skills were definitely obtained and will benefit me. The general life of working a 9-5 forces you to manage your time better which I hope will carry over into my final year of studies as it will be a huge benefit if I can stick to it.
The Company
Most of the employees in my team are young and all generally like a chat etc which was good. Also as I had another undergraduate on my team we got on well and it made the atmosphere great.
To begin with it was quite frustrating at how long I was without basics like internet and files. I didn't actually have access to everything until 1 month into my placement so the first month almost went to waste.
The company gave us inductions and events to help further our knowledge of the actual company and the products that are sold and dealt with. This was a fundamental part of understanding how my work actually impacted the company. Also we had an Excel training course which I gladly took part in with my main aim on placement being to master Excel.

I think the company itself is great and the perks would really tempt me to work here, however the general Milton Keynes area just isn't for me and I couldn't personally live there.
The Culture
I lived with other placement students which was a great experience and we all had a great time living together along with attending social events/clubs. For example we all played in the football team and there were often nights out arranged between the placement students.
To be fair the living costs are really reasonable living in Milton Keynes, you can get great living for really cheap prices. Socially it isn't very good in terms of it might not cost too much generally but you will run out of places to go after potentially 4 times of going out. I found though that with Birmingham and London being so close if you were willing to you could spend a little more to go to some great places.
The night life was pretty bad in Milton Keynes, as mentioned you can go out maybe a couple of times before you find that there is actually nowhere else to go. It's quite restricted in choice in the area but there is enough for you to do stuff.
There was a football team associated with work which was great to get involved in. Also there are clubs for various sports around the town all you have to do is do some research and look into what is available. There are plenty of gyms and even the biggest gym in Europe which I attended.
