About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight day at M&G. It was very informative and provided me with a clear insight into a career in fund management. I now know that this is a career that I want to get into. The best part of the day was having the opportunity to network with current M&G graduates and employees - it was invaluable and extremely useful.
I felt extremely valued during my time at the company as we had the opportunity to speak to current employees at M&G. Everyone was extremely friendly and supportive and I definitely felt part of the family. The insights I was provided with was very worthwhile and I loved every part of the day!
I received so much guidance and support during the insight day! From the talks by employees who are the head of the business, to the employees we had the opportunity to network with - everyone provided me very valuable advice and insights and I now feel I am very confident going into the world of work in an investment firm.
I am very pleased to have gone to the insight day as I developed skills which will be useful for me in all walks of like, not just for education and the work place. These include skills such as team work, presentation, communication and employability skills. We also received advice on the application process including how to stand out and tips for the interview, which was very useful!
The Company
The insight was extremely well structured and everything was conducted in a timely manner. We started off with a presentation from someone senior within the organisation. We then had four rounds of a trading game but in between there were two guest speakers who were very motivating. The last aspects included the networking lunch and an application/interview workshop
The general atmosphere was very lively and fun. Especially during the networking session, it was very clear that everyone at M&G loved and enjoyed what they do. The best part about it for most of them was the culture and the fact that it was flexible so they can come in at different times every.
The insight was very helpful in helping me understand what it would be like to have a full time role in the company. This is because everyone I spoke to gave me an insight into what they do at the firm including their role on a day to day basis as well as how they got to where they are now.
The insight was very helpful in providing me with the understanding and insight into the company culture. Everyone who works at the firm said it was the best thing about working there. There is no hierarchy in the firm, everyone has their office in the same place and you could be working alongside someone in a higher position.
The content of the day in helping me decide on my career path was incredible. This is because fund management is something that I am extremely interested in and I would love to get into the industry in the future. The company culture and the working style is something I love at this firm.
Everything Else
I paid myself
There was a networking lunch where I was given the opportunity to speak to employees from the firm and was given extremely valuable insights and advice from them. I managed to get a few business cards and add them on LinkedIn which was very valuable as I can connect with them in the future if need be
The networking and social opportunities was my favourite part of the day. The employees were very enthusiastic and you could tell they love their job and M&G and this is why I am definitely going to apply for an internship in the company. They provided me with invaluable insights into how they got to where they are
I did not find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work, which may have been very interested. However, despite not hearing about what they are involved with outside of work I did find out about what employees for their job on a day to basis and how they find it.
I would definitely recommend the M&G insight to a friend, especially to someone who is not clear about what they want to do in the future. You will learn a lot about what it is like working in an investment firm and get a feel for it so you know if it’s somethinf you want to pursue as a career
