About You
This insight scheme at DLA Piper offered an enjoyable and beneficial insight into the workings of a fast paced, global law firm. I had the opportunity meet inspiring and dedicated employees at the firm and DLA Piper went out of their way to ensure we got the most out of this programme.
Throughout my time at DLA Piper, I felt extremely well valued and appreciated by everyone I met. We had the opportunity to meet some of the most senior members of the firm, who took a real interest in us. This in itself made me feel extremely well valued. Moreover, every single participant on the scheme was actively encouraged to get involved.
Throughout my time at DLA Piper, I felt extremely well supported. Before beginning the insight programme, I was provided with a detailed guidebook, providing with plenty of useful information. Furthermore, whilst on the programme, the recruitment team organising the insight really could not have done any more to support us!
The amount of quality information that I received during this insight scheme was truly invaluable and the scheme proved to be an amazing learning opportunity. The skills and knowledge that I developed will undoubtedly benefit me in the future and I look forward to putting into practice the knowledge I learnt when I am back at university.
The Company
I found the insight programme at DLA Piper to be extremely well structured, with a thoughtful layout to each day. There was a good balance between workshops, information sessions and networking opportunities. Furthermore, the guidance book contained an itinerary for the duration of the scheme, allowing me to prepare for each upcoming session.
I found there to be a really great atmosphere at DLA Piper. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly! As an international law, it was also a professional atmosphere. I found staff to very approachable and I always felt able to ask them questions which was great for finding out more about their roles and life at the firm
I felt very well invested in throughout my time at by DLA Piper, and as 3 days is longer than most insight schemes, I really got a lot out of this programme! All of the talks and activities were of a really high calibre and focused on our personal development.
This insight scheme at DLA Piper was great for understanding more about what it would be like to have a full-time role at the firm. We had plenty of opportunities to speak with trainees, associates and partners about life at the firm. We also had the opportunity to meet with employees within all the departments, which was also insightful.
This insight programme at DLA Piper provided me with the opportunity to understand more about the culture at the firm. Having the opportunity to network with members of staff from across the firm allowed me to gain their perspective of the culture at DLA Piper. I also spent time observing how trainees, associates and partners interact with one another which allowed me to witness first-hand the firm’s supportive culture and inclusive working environment.
It was extremely valuable in this respect. I am now confident that I want to pursue a career within a commercial law firm, therefore I now know the type of law firms I will be looking at from now on. Furthermore, this insight provided me with a better insight of the work that trainees do, which I found really beneficial.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed all my expenses incurred during the insight programme. We were provided with very nice accommodation, just a short walking distance away from the office and all of my travel expense have been quickly reimbursed. The majority of my food was also provided, and we were also treated to a dinner at a local restaurant during our time with DLA Piper.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking provided whilst on this insight programme at DLA Piper, and I do not think there is a participant that could say otherwise. We had the opportunity to network with trainees, associates and partners, and there were plenty of networking opportunities amongst the interns also.
I found all the events to be very enjoyable!
Yes, I found out about different activities that DLA Piper employees can get involved in.
I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend- fun, enjoyable and a great learning opportunity!
