About You
I enjoyed this insight programme at EY, however, it must be said that the 2nd day was much more enjoyable than the 1st day. This was largely down to the fact that the 1st day consisted of talks where the majority of the information could be found on the website. The 2nd day was more enjoyable as it was interactive and engaging, with plenty of 'hands-on' activities.
During my time at EY, I was made to feel valued, with EY certainly taking good care of us throughout our time at the firm. Some exposure to senior staff made me feel like I mattered, and I felt that the firm really tried to ensure we got the most out of this experience.
I felt well supported on this insight programme. Prior to starting, EY provided me with all the information I needed and I cannot fault the communication from the recruitment team. During the interactive activities, we had support from the recent intake of graduates, who guided us through the activities. This support was very beneficial.
For those who may be considering a career within the industry, this insight programme is a good stepping-stone for developing new skills and gaining knowledge about the sector. Personally, I found some of the information irrelevant as you could find it all on the website, however, I did learn some new things. Whilst this will not be relevant to be degree, it was still good knowledge to have.
The Company
I found that there was a good structure to the programme, although I believe that the 1st day could have been more interactive, rather than just having information spoken at us. The structure of the 2nd day proved to be a lot better, consisting of interactive session, that allowed us to gain exposure to EY employees.
I found there to be a good atmosphere at EY. As the atmosphere within the office is fairly profession, this provided a good introduction to the corporate world. The Graduate Recruitment Team was great and I found them to be extremely friendly and welcoming. This was a reflection of the wider atmosphere at EY.
I felt well-invested in by the firm, however, as this was a 2 day insight programme, we did not receive any formal training, although I would not except any at this early stage. However, EY certainly invested in our personal development, ensuring we left the insight more confident and informed of the industry.
As this was a 2 day programme, it was hard to get a full understanding of what it would be like to have a full-time role at the firm, however, by spending time in the offices and speaking with employees, I certainly left with a much more informed understanding of what it would be like to work at EY.
The insight programme is very useful in understanding more about the culture at the firm, with plenty of opportunity to talk to trainees and associates about this. The panel discussion enabled the intern students to hear more about what EY employees think of the company and in turn the culture at the firm.
I found the content to be valuable in helping me to determine my future career path. Whilst I enjoyed my time spent at EY, I am now certain I want to pursue a career in law, as per my degree and other work experience, as this experience demonstrated to me that my skills and interests are better suited to that sector.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed my travel expenses for commuting into London for both days.
Yes, there were lots of networking opportunities during this insight programme. I had the opportunity to speak with the recent graduate intake, which I found to be very beneficial. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to network with a number of senior members of the organisation also, which again, was a great opportunity!
I found the networking and social events to be very enjoyable!
Yes, I found out about a variety of different activities that EY employees can become involved in.
Although I think some areas of this insight programme could be improved, I would recommend this insight programme to a friend, as it was a good learning experience and I met lots of really great people, who I will hopefully stay connected with in the future. It is also a great addition to any CV!
