    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement was very enjoyable. The reason being although it was very challenging, it was always rewarding- therefore you always felt like your hard work paid off and was worth the effort. I also enjoyed the variety of skills I learnt throughout my year at Enterprise, it was much more than renting cars.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Because your hard work always gets rewarded and noticed it makes you feel very valued. You spend long hours with a small team of people, more hours than you do at home therefore you build a good relationship with your team. There are also lots of sales and service competitions with great prizes from days out to ipads etc.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There is a great training program which everyone who joins the rental company goes through. It means that you get a chance to learn and understand every area of the business. Through out my time at enterprise It's reassuring to know I can pick up the phone to any senior department head to ask a question.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very, its a very demanding job. You constantly have a list of to do jobs and the phone constantly rings and you will always have customers coming in to be served. You will always feel like you do not have enough cars and never enough people. I was in a branch which has a fleet of 140 on rent, and some branches have over 200.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Within 6 months I was left to manage the 140 car branch for 2 weeks whilst my branch manager was on holiday between the busy Christmas period. Although I was very nervous it was very rewarding to see what I had achieved. I was also responsible for managing corporate accounts, which was very good marketing experience.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have effectively learnt how to manage a diverse group of people, including how to motivate them. I have learnt a lot about operations and efficiencies. I have learnt a lot about how to run a business, from increasing revenue in numerous ways to reducing and controlling costs. I have also learnt a lot about Insurance claims for rental vehicles, about non fault business and third party liability.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Most people treat interns equally to graduates as you are on the exact same training scheme therefore a lot of people don't even realize you are an intern. Unfortunately 1 person spoilt it for me as he through he was above me as 'I was just an intern' but his behavior and attitude was stamped out immediately by management. Enterprise on a whole very much look after their interns because they want us to promote our careers to our friends and get them to apply

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I couldn't of asked for a better set up. from start to finish it was seamless, from the first week of training to the activity celebration day for interns held towards the end of the internship. I was very impressed that it was the same as the graduate program a.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Had a personal development meeting every month with my line manager, which talk us through our folder to see what we need to do next to reach the next step. We also had a 30, and 90 day and 120 day review which was a great opportunity to see how far I'd come

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing as there are always so many chances and opportunities for internal promotion as they only ever promote internally. Its also great that they offer part time work for you to work around your uni work. and if you cant do that they also give you opportunity to be a campus brand manager which is a paid position to promote the company around the uni.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes as you get days out organized and paid by the company with the fellow interns. you also have a quarterly paid nights out with your area team which incudes meals, to go karting to BBQ's. There are also lots of branch activities if you meet certain targets and goals.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Coming from a university in Cardiff where the living price is a lot cheaper, it was a shock slightly as it was a bit more expensive living in Southampton. Especially if you don't want to live in the loud noisy student areas. local taxis and ubers are more expensive- a trip into the local town is going to cost you at least £20 or more.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of diverse places to go to, whether you like pubs or big nigh clubs its got it all

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
