The Role
The experience with Buro Happold was one to cherish, I have never been as comfortable since moving into the UK for schooling, that I really felt like home. Always would walk into the office with bright smiles into a company that believes in employee engagement were even my line manager made me feel in place.
The boat starting rolling from the day I started and tasks were already flying on my desk and I was surely already prepared. whenever I completed a task and submitted it to my superior for review every effort did not go unnoticed and the whole team would take time off their busy schedules so as to accommodate you in thanking and giving you advice in what best you can do come the next task.
The guidance and support I got from my internship period was tremendous. it was not only at work but off working hours as I had never been in London. My workmates took the time to take me to the best places to get lunch, football games and how to travel the best in London. when it came to work it was just an amazing time there was great constructive mentoring, guidance and support that I got. The knowledge I have gained in my internship is GOLD! and is going to take me places
It always came down to how busy the week was, there were days when time just flied through because you had many deadlines to meet then there would be days when all you do is work on non-project stuff. Which at times would be frustrating as you would have adjusted to the high pressure conditions but it was a challenge worth it.
The responsibilities I was given by the company were as expected because during my first few weeks I was given things that would need me to scope on a non technical basis but required my general background my field of study by with progression of time the responsibilities grew showing that my fellow work mates were beginning to believe in my capabilities and I must say in gave me the confidence.
The skills I have attained during my placement are going to be the gold to what I have planned in doing in the future they fell right as the missing puzzle from the degree. Being so complementary to what I have studied and giving me more directions in which I can explore as career I really appreciate the experience and I feel I am finally confident to take on the world and
The Company
The atmosphere was really great couldn't be any better there was always time when people would work very hard in their shells as expected during times of deadlines then there would be times when people conversed and helped each other with tasks. It was really great I remember my first day I thought I would be alienated but people took time of whatever they were doing to come know about me and who I was and not only was that great you could really feel that people were interested in what you had to say rather than just doing it for obligation.
This was the most organised placement I have taken in my life. they definitely know how to go around with us. The first day was amazing the induction , meet the people and work space was clearly planned out and had no glitches what so ever. when it came to your time on placement you were constantly asked if the program planned was going on as what you expected.
Whenever tasks were given for the first time you would have someone run through it with you showing you exactly how its done then if the same task was to come you would then be required to do it by yourself and then pass it on to peer to review it and then come back and discuss with you were you could have done better and where you did great I felt this gave be the drive to do better every time and really played a major role on my training and development

There's hope for future employment in the company as I have shown them what best I can do and they have shown me that they are definitely interested in me for further employment prospect. there's really an opportunity of a job offer and I would really love to work for this company as they are special and great people I would love to work with again
The Culture
Cost of living in London is really expensive I must say its a really high compared from where I had been living since coming into the United Kingdom. however this was covered by the good social vibe London has there is always someone and some place that has the right vibe to what you are looking for and I must say I loved it and every penny I spent!
I have always fancied a good game of football after work and maybe a pint in the pub before headed home and this was right what I got every Friday and weekends with my workmates. its really amazing especially when you're in a situation like mine were everything is a new experience and you have people willing to spare their time to showing you around awesome!
