The Role
This was a really fun placement, lots of things happen at L'Oréal and you constantly meet new people, so there is plenty of opportunity to network, broaden your work into other teams and explore what you want to do!
You are given a lot of work by multiple people around the business, and this is always appreciated.
There was constant support available to me in terms of my own personal development and I was able to ask for both positive feedback and constructive feedback throughout the entirety of my placement - people at L'Oréal value and prioritise personal learning and so this was really great.
Everyone is busy at L'Oréal, and for me this is great, I would always rather be busy so this was good.
I was given my own high-profile project. This allowed me to develop not only my personal skills, but professionally both internally at L'Oréal and with external stakeholders. L'Oréal doesn't shy away from giving interns responsibility and this is something that is very rarely offered in a placement role.
The skills I have developed and the training I have received will allow me to go into another job with confidence. The compulsory induction training sessions that L'Oréal provides are fantastic - the learning team at the company are amazing and really get you to think about your personal and professional development.
The Company
There are a mix of personalities at L'Oréal. If you make the effort with the people you are around, they will make it back. Also, as trust builds between you and those in your team, your relationship will grow. So many people within the company spend time together outside of work due to how closely you work with people.
It was run very smoothly!
The learning team were fantastic and really made me think about what I wanted to do. The amount of time that is spent on emphasising personal development at L'Oréal shows how much they care!

Really strong opportunity for people to progress at L'Oréal! Especially if you choose their grad scheme.
The Culture
Yes there was an intern committee who organised socials, sports clubs and other clubs too as well as ran an Instagram page.
London is always going to be expensive. I lived with 2 other interns in Hammersmith and I would 100% recommend this. We paid rent, obviously, but didn't have to pay any commuting costs because we walked to work every day. This saved us a fortune.
There's not loads going on in Hammersmith but the night tube runs at the weekend on District and Piccadilly lines so you can go out to Shoreditch and still get back without paying too much for an uber.
