The Role
I have enjoyed my placement a lot I've learnt a lot about technical components of an enigine and about processes used to fix problems we see in the field. Everyone here are very friendly and most employees here did a years placement themselves so they know what its like to be in my shoes.
I felt i was given the same respect and opportunities that all employees were given. there wasn't anyone that made me feel like I was lower than them or inferior in any way.
I felt that all the managers around were extremely helpful and understand throughout the whole year. There wasn't such a thing as a dumb question and I felt that I was learning every day.
With my role it came in fits and starts so some days i will be very busy and some days i would just do training online. my manager didn't want to overload me with projects because of the sporadic nature of the work. But once about 6 months into the placement I was constantly busy from day to day.
I was given as much responsibility as any other employee and in some cases even more as I was working on my managers projects and my own at some points.
I feel like my skills and knowledge have advanced greatly from this year and i will definitely be taking this knowledge to my next job role.
The Company
the general atmosphere is fun but professional, its a great atmosphere to learn and take in knowledge but everyone is so nice and approachable that you could have a conversation with anybody.
Very organised, we had all the same training as graduates and IMechE support for becoming integrated or charted which was very good.
I have had a number of professional training sessions and trips to other plants to learn about other components in the company. it has been very good to know that if i wanted training on just about anything i could ask.

I would definitely come back to work at Cummins if they offered me a job as the atmosphere here is very nice and friendly.
The Culture
Yes I became great friends with a small group of placement students and graduates.
I live in a shared house with one other person and bills were about £400 pp a month. if you have a car its not too bad for socialising because you are half an hour away from Northampton, Rugby, Coventry, Warwickshire and about an hour away from Leicester, Birmingham and Milton Keynes. However i would say if you don't have a car its a bit of a nightmare getting out of Daventry as there is no train connection here.
there are about 4 pubs and one 'club'.
Yes at least in my team there was plenty of opportunity for socializing outside of work as we did team fun every month for team bonding.
