The Role
I have had a great time trying on the variety of tasks and project I took up during my placement.
I was made a key member of the team on most occasions and was allowed to voice my opinion even in the most important meetings amongst senior members of the company.
We had a training plan made for our placement which allowed us to understand the different processes within the company. Additionally, my questions and doubts were always promptly looked into.
The level of work always fluctuated on a daily basis. Overall, I always had several tasks to look into.
I was given a good variety of responsibility ranging from really important tasks with customer committed deadlines to smaller tasks which I was allowed to do at my own ease.
I believe that a placement at Cummins has provided me with immense clarity on what I want to do ahead. I feel I am more aware of my strengths and weaknesses than I was before and have had a chance to hone my skills and work further on places where there is a room for improvement.
The Company
The environment in the office was always warm and interactive. There appeared to be a very good dynamic amongst different teams located on the same floors.
The work placement was very well organised right from its structure to the training plan laid out. The most impressive feature was that I was allowed to consistently provide feedback on the quality of my placement.
I believe the company invested fairly well towards my training and development by organising day long training programs. I also had access to almost all tools and software used within the company were I to learn them.

I believe it would be a great opportunity to work within the company after graduation since Cummins allows every employee to grow and develop.
The Culture
The social interaction amongst placement students was really healthy. We always met up in the canteen and social events organised outside of working hours.
Huddersfield is a relatively cheap place to live considering I was coming from Bath. Everything from accommodations to restaurants were reasonably prices.
The nightlife in Huddersfield is not idea. However, it is strategically located between Manchester and Leeds which have a great nightlife.
Cummins makes it mandatory for its employees to participate in community activities. I was part of the STEM team and also helped school students develop an electric car as part of extra of my community involvement.
