About You
great- learnt a lot about the retail industry as well as getting valuable work experience which will help me when applying for future jobs. i found it very enjoyable and picked up lots of skills that will be transferable to any field of work i may wish to pursue.
i felt like i was a part of the team despite only working there for a relatively short period of time - the team were incredibly helpful and supportive and i think that really helped me get the most out to my experience. i would definitely say my coworkers made my experience memorable
i initially received a lot of guidance which was really useful to be in the beginning since i was very new and didn't know my way around. with time they gave me less support which i thought was appropriate since i no longer need any guidance. really felt like they put in extra effort for me
i developed valuable communication skills as i had to work in a team with many people - we all worked to each others strengths which made working a lot more efficient i developed independence too because i had to do my individual tasks on my own and it helped me become less reliant.
The Company
the placement was well structured because it was very detailed in what i would be doing. i found that there was a great balance between support and independence and i always felt like i knew what i was doing or i knew who to talk to if i had a problem
it was a very positive work environment and all my co workers were supportive. i really felt as though everyone was positive and optimistic throughout the duration of every shift and they were also very supportive. overall it was a very positive and motivating place to work and that made the placement great.
i got lots and lots of training throughout the week because i was working on many departments and learning to adapt to lots of roles within the workplace. after this i had no more training but that is understandable . i felt like the company really invested in me in the programme
i felt like i got a great insight into what it would be like to work in waitrose because i worked a good number of shifts. my co workers also talked to me about their experiences in employment which helped me learn all about working there and what its really like
i learnt a lot more than i expected about company culture since i was there for such a short period of time. all of the people around me were very helpful and willing to chat which meant i could learn a lot about the community and the culture of the community
this placement made me all the more determined to pursue a career in retail because i learnt that i enjoyed it - even if i didnt enjoy it i think it would be just as helpful in helping me decide a career path that i might want to pursue in the future
Everything Else
since it was work experience only i received no payment but this was clearly stated when i applied
i met lots of employees during my work experience and i had lots of time to talk to them between shifts and during breaks - it meant that i improved communication skills and i learnt a lot from them during the duration of my placement - it was really helpful
i went to lots and lots of social events outside of work and it was a great opportunity to network and meet new people and make lots of new friends - this was one of the major highlights of my placement and one of the main reasons id recommend it
yes! i found out about and attended many events outside of work - it was a great opportunity to learn about the placement, make friends and network. it really enhanced my communication skills and was a really exciting addition to the placement. i really think its a great idea to hold events like this in the future.
overall i would absolutely recommend this to a friend - i learnt a lot from the people around me and from the manufacturer but perhaps even more importantly i really really enjoyed this experience and i would really encourage anyone to try it if the opportunity presents itself to them
