The Role
An enjoyable experience overall, met some great people who will continue to support me as I progress through my career. The work was a good balance of challenging and interesting.
Many colleagues appreciated the work that you completed and valued your opinions on how to improve processes. You are seen more than just an intern by most people.
Some members of management are more supportive than others, The EPMs however are very supportive and want to give you the best career advice they can not only if you want to stay at IBM but also in external roles.
Started off very quiet but built up more over the year, always able to request a change in workload if necessary.
You are given a good amount of responsibility but are also accountable for it. Important to take ownership of tasks.
I don't think it has been that beneficial to my degree, but my skills to be in the workplace have massively improved and there are always people that will offer you as much support and advice as they can.
The Company
Really good atmosphere most of the time, people always happy to speak and is a good balance of friendly but structured
Very well organised IBM have been doing it for a number of years so they know how best to support placement students, also the majority of the roles have been performed many times by interns so expectations are at the right level
They do invest time and give opportunities to further support your training, However graduates are given significantly more so sometimes you may feel undervalued.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Working from home
I do plan on applying back to the company for a graduate job
The Culture
Really good atmosphere in my direct team and good intern community
As based in London it is very expensive but salary is fair compared to cost, amazing social opportunities.
London so brilliant something for everyone
Yes there is the IBM club which you can join as well as many giveback opportunities
