The Role
I absolutely loved the placement. I was very fortunate to be working alongside an amazing team who has been willing to give me completely freedom and responsibility to take on whatever I put my mind to. The culture and environment is also so diverse and I could not be more proud to be a part of the company.
I felt extremely valued by most of my colleagues - they have been incredibly supporting and appreciative throughout the year. The only reason I put a 9 and not a 10 is because I feel like I could have received more support from the higher managers of the group and wish they cared a bit more about interns' self development.
I was given a lot of support by my direct managers. They have been so amazing to work with and have been there for me throughout the year whether personally or professionally. They really cared about my self-development which I absolutely loved and I could not have asked for better managers.
The reason I put a 7 here is because there have been many days where I have been extremely busy - but that is only because of the circumstances we are currently in. I cannot complain about it however as I absolutely love the workload - I get much more responsibility than I ever could have imagined anywhere else.
Similarly to my answers above, I received an immense amount of responsibility which I would have never received anywhere else. Makes me so happy to have turned down my other offers despite hesitation at first as now it makes the year all incredibly worth it. I also see other interns get amazing responsibility which is nice to see .
More than technically, I have developed immensely from a personal perspective. I now know how to act professionally and have grown my management, time management, organisational and communication skills which will aid me throughout life under any circumstance. It will also aid me in my degree because of the amazing insight and dedicated I have.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office has been absolutely incredible. I honestly could not have wished for a more dynamic and fun team to have worked with. They are also so supportive of me which has been really nice. I cannot speak for everyone else, however, I have loved working with all the different teams and therefore I think atmosphere is incredible.
I think the overall work placement was very well set up. One thing that I wished would have changed is the fact that we are not told what roles we are going into. As someone who has had multiple offers it was difficult to decide if I wanted to join L'Oreal not knowing what I would do.
The company heavily invests in training and developing their interns. They have a whole week of training when you join ranging from legal to powerpoint training. I also know the grad scheme offers incredible training which I hope to be able to take part of. Ex. how to master public speaking.

To be quite honest, it all depends on how you did during your year. You will get it if you deserve it. The only thing I don't like is the amount of paranoia and competition that is put on interns in the final few months on their quests to receive the grad scheme.
The Culture
The social scene was amazing because it is so easy to make friends at L'Oreal. All interns are so close which has been amazing and we have really had an incredible year together both in and out of the office. Socials that were organised by the intern committee were really nice as well.
It was OK. the living costs in terms of food and going out is fine but the rent is incredibly expensive which makes it a bit harder to socialise during the year. However, I did not have the intention of saving money this year but just wanted to live life and enjoy it so it's all good.
There are lots of nice bars and pubs around which are really cool for an after friday work day. However, there are no clubs and whatsoever so I guess it depends on what type of person you are. I love the restaurant scene however which is good in Hammersmith so it was not bad.
Yes there has been some great opportunities because of the intern committee who worked hard to create lots of opportunities for us. The one thing I wish L'Oreal did was subsidise gyms and stuff as some other companies do to support fitness and well being and also allow interns to be able to save a bit of money.
