The Role
The placement year was a great first experience to the huge corporate working life and as such, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was all very progressive. At the start I did not feel valued, but as the placement progressed and I little by little gained knowledge and training, my value increased and I was of much more use to the team.
I was given a lot of guidance during the year by my supervisors. However, this was not equal throughout the team and ideally, more structure is needed when supporting the student intern in the department.
This was not constant. Some days I was extremely busy, some days I was not. Again, structure is needed in order to fully use the potential and working hours of the student intern. However, having said that, I always had some work to do.
I was given a fair amount of responsability during the year. I was in charge of many projects which heavily influenced the business group.
I believe that I have learnt many valuable skills and knowledge which I will be able to apply further in my degree and career. Moreover, I have made an array of connections within the company which will be handy when applying to future graduate jobs.
The Company
The atmosphere was great! Everyone is super friendly, helpful and approachable. Speaking to other friends on placements, this was not the case with them, so I am really thankful to be in such a pleasant office environment.
The placement was well organised. We had 4 SPY (Student Placement Year) days where we visited other branches within Sony and undertook team building activities (still pending the last one on the 14th of June). However, as mentioned before, the work structure for interns in my role could be improved.
I was told at the very start of the placement "You will receive all the help and training you request". This was very assuring as I was lacking the skills and knowledge in some sectors of the business.

I would very much enjoy exploring SONY further. Not necessarily in SONY PSE but jump around different sister companies such as SONY PICTURES OR SONY SIEE.
The Culture
There was indeed. Between us we organised social events on weekends and made good friends in the process.
Living: 550-700 pounds per month Meal: 10-15 pounds Pubs/Clubs: 5 pounds entry
Not the best. However, with a nice group of interns, we had lots of fun nonetheless.
Yes various, although to be honest, I did not engage in a lot of them as I decided to travel a lot this year. Although, I know there are as collegues signed up for the Sony football team.
