The Role
I absolutely loved it. You are given so much creative freedom and allowance to really affect aspects of the business making you feel really needed within the company. It can be hard work, but the benefits really do outweigh this and I am so happy to be able to say I work for this company
I do feel very valued by my colleagues and I know that I play an important role within the company. My line manager has been extremely supportive with everything I do and definitely values me as an employee. The company is hierarchical so you will see that people a lot higher up than you have a bit hold over your position though.
My line manager has been better than I could have ever imagined. He is very senior yet always has time for me and has been so helpful with my grad scheme application and genuinely wants me to get the position which has made me feel a lot more confident in myself.
I am always extremely busy on a daily basis but this is partially due to me taking on a lot of extra tasks and also working with other divisions throughout my year. There are some days that are less busy but i usually work a fair amount of extra hours and it can be stressful.
For an internship, I was given a crazy amount of responsibility over a wide range of tasks. I was managing big projects and also presenting to very senior people within the business. Obviously if this is being compared to other people within L'Oréal this would be lower, but in comparison to other internships this is extremely high
This has 100% given me skills for life that can be applied to wherever I go next and also for my final year at university. I hope to stay on at L'Oréal yet if I don't get a position, I know that the skills I have learnt will set me up to go on and do whatever I want to do within the industry.
The Company
The atmosphere is great in general, buzzing every day and very busy. Sometimes when we are having tough times you can feel a lot of tension but in general it's buzzing and positive. We also have a lot of group meeting to keep up the ambience and buzz for better working conditions
My management was great and the hole process was managed well by HR. I would have liked to have more of an experience with the other interns at the beginning but appreciate they wanted to put us straight into a real world scenario. The recruitment process was also very seamless I would say
I was given so much training and extra projects to work on to give me as much experience as possible throughout the year. There is also 'my learning' - an app in which you can sign up to any extra training sessions which is great for anyone that wants to improve their knowledge in areas aside from their everyday job

It is extremely hard to get onto the grad scheme, however they have now brought about a 'pipeline' where you can be called for any drop outs, and also a 'talent track' you can apply for and be kept on call for any relevant job openings they may have relevant to your experience.
The Culture
There are sports clubs and also 'intern social secs' like at uni. It is, of course, expensive to go out in London but regular socials are held so you can get to know your fellow interns better. A lot of the time these are on work nights to make them cheaper
Hammersmith and Fulham is an expensive area to live in. My place isn't the nicest but at least I can walk to work to balance out some of the extreme costs of living. It is, however, possible to find affordable places. There is a spoons nearby but all of the other pubs and bars are fairly pricey
There aren't really any clubs at all around the office and just a few pubs and bars. We tend to have to travel to go out in either Soho or around that area in general. However, with the night tube this wasn't much of an issue at all, just the norm
I was very heavily involved in charity work outside of my day to day job which was so rewarding and also a great way to stand out when applying for the grad scheme. There are also a lot of projects set up to aid this. Social activities are also set up by the company regularly.
