The Role
I feel that this was a very valuable experience of which I enjoyed parts but not all. I did not have enough to do but when I did it was very enjoyable and interesting.
I would say that most people I worked with were very friendly and especially helpful and people were often very encouraging when it came to projects. However, there were times of course when I was given the intern type jobs that no one else wanted to do.
My manager specifically did not give much support as he was rarely working from inside the office but there were many other people inside and outside of my team that were very supportive and helpful at all times.
My day-to-day work mainly consisted of projects and so I was never particularly busy. If anything I could have been given much more to do.
I would say that I was given a large amount of responsibility in some aspects of my job. For example I had to send out monthly reports to finance directors and the head of my department calling people out on work they hadn't done or had made mistakes on and suggesting ways in which they could improve their processes.
My degree and job in supply chain were not particularly linked but I definitely developed many skills that will be useful in any job such as project management, communication skills and time management etc.
The Company
Very laid back and generally fun. I think because it is a French company originally there is a massive 'coffee culture' meaning that you will often have informal meetings over coffee in the canteen instead of formal meetings, presentations will often be done sat down with people interjecting a lot. The dress code is business casual and people wear what they want and express themselves which is great. it is a very sociable and lively atmosphere, one of the best things about the business I think.
Quite well I think. I only encountered a few problems such as being told I was part of two different teams before I started and then when I arrived my windows account hadn't been created but then once it had started there were no issues.
For interns, in the first few months there were quite a few training sessions on excel, data protection, but I think that there definitely could have been more on simpler stuff such as presenting. However for the company in general there were lots of opportunities and programmes to improve your progression.

I have heard and seen evidence that the grad scheme is very good and job prospects after that are very good with people moving up (and abroad) a lot but only up to a certain level where there is then a saturation of people from the head office.
The Culture
Yes, the interns went out nearly every week and would have lunch together in groups every day. A lot lived together and everyone was very friendly.
Obviously London is expensive and Hammersmith is a nice area so that too was expensive. I lived however within walking distance of the office and found a nice flat that wasn't too expensive. I believe most interns could manage that too.
Pubs only but very well connected so never far from somewhere.
The intern committee set up a few other activities such as running club, a book club and obviously socials everyweek. Within teams there were also often things organised outside of work. We often got money off or free trials at resteraunts and gyms locally so would go to those with teams for lunch etc.
