About You
I really enjoyed coming along to the insight event as it meant I was able to grasp a better understanding of where I want to be aiming for my future. I also really enojoyed the realness of the insight day compared to other companies I have seen and that definitely put me at ease and meant I was able to enojoy the event.
I come along to the event on my own and I was a little nervous but the M&G team really did welcome me and was very smiley and friendly, this made me feel valued in just the morning I was there. I also was able to easily chat to some of the staff and their friendly attitude really made me feel valued as they truly was interested in where I want to take the next steps into my future.
During the insight I had a lot of support and it was clear that the opportunity for a question, however silly, could be asked. The support throughout the day was brilliant as the current apprentices able to relate to the questions and feelings I was having and this made the day a less daunting experience.
The information from the insight day has confirmed that I do not want to study further at university and that I definitely would like to pursue an apprenticeship to kick start my career and hopefully in a caring company such as M&G. The information about the different areas to look at is also very beneficial and I need to research what my skill set would be best for personally.
The Company
The insight was very well structured and having the agenda before was a good insight into what we will be learning about. The day was split nicely into segments and it was seamless throughout which really made the day enjoyable. I also liked the breaks in between with the refreshments, as this meant we could process a little of the information before the Q&A.
The word ‘culture’ was used several times during the day but I could truly see such a friendly atmosphere during my experience at the event. Everyone was so friendly and with a positive attitude to help you to find the best opportunities for your needs. The atmosphere definitely helped me at the event as I felt at ease and so could ask the questions and queries I had.
The company invested in me during the insight day as it was a small event and so it was a more personal experience. This made me feel valued during the insight day and so I could speak one on one with employee’s to speak in further depth about my opportunities.
The insight day gave me a clear understanding of what having a role in M&G would be like and a better understanding of work life as an apprentice as there was many apprentices in the networking. The insight day spoke a lot about the apprenticeships but also about M&G’s values as a whole which gave me an insight into the work life during a role at the company.
Insight day really exampled the culture in M&G as not only did I hear of past positive culture story’s, I was also able to feel the culture through the atmosphere at the event. The culture of M&G was definitely shown throughout the day from all of the employee’s and this was extremely helpful to have an understanding of.
A couple of months ago I had a presentation from apprentices from M&G and it was very similar content, however at the insight day I loved seeing it from HR’s perspective as they had valuable opinions on the content which was really beneficial. I think that the content was really clear and has helped me understand I definitely do not what to go to university.
Everything Else
I was not paid or reimbursed but this was not applicable.
There was plenty of time to network before the event and that gave me an opportunity to be put at ease through one of your apprentices. After the event there was also plenty of time to network with all types of employee’s and this was really beneficial to understand their opinions of M&G and how they got to their roles.
The insight day gave many opportunities to network and is was a good way to get to know others interests and routes they are taking but also from the apprentices about how they got to their roles. As financial services language is sometimes jargon it was really good to speak to people in the network and this meant they could break some of it down and their job responsibilities in a way that I would understand.
I loved hearing about how Poppy went to the flower show and was able to ring the bell! The realness of her speech really showed there are ample opportunities to have a social life with both M&G and investment2020. I also understand that being in the heart of the city benefits the social life of working and this gives lots of opportunities to them.
I definitely would recommend to my friends, and even my school to have a look at the next insight day. The day went smoothly and was really focused on us and how we make the next steps which I really like. From other experiences it can become really chaotic and this was not the case and the content was brilliant!
