The Role
The people were fun to work with, but broadcast isn't my area of expertise and some of the knowledge required is quite specialised, therefore I wasn't really able to do anything that required any real engineering.
Of the things I did I felt they were valuable contributions to the project, though I would have liked some more opportunites to do more complex things.
My line manager put me on a project that was near completion and didn't give me any real opportunities to do any engineering.
Most tasks were fairly menial and mind numbing, there were no real opportunities for design and engineering that would've kept me mentally occupied.
For most of the placement I was given a fairly easy task and left to complete it. I had a few vaguely important tasks which required discussions with other team members, coordination and subsequent documentation that I was responsible for.
I developed interpersonal skills, knowledge of how to interact with different parties, managers vs engineers for example. This will help me in work after university, though I don't think I have learned anything that will help me with my degree studies.
The Company
The people are fun to be around, the atmosphere is often jovial and informal.
The placement was advertised fairly late and I got the strong impression that they thought there would be more for me to do, which never materialised.
There were no specific personal training or development activities though for all the placement students there were a couple of development days.

It is not an area, or business I would be interested in returning to. It does not operate in market areas that interest me.
The Culture
Although I did not get on very well with the other students there was a good social scene amongst the colleagues I worked with most days.
It's the south of England and I go to university in the north. The cost of everything is about 3 times higher, especially socialising.
This is not something that particularly interests me, though from what i have seen there is an element of nightlife.
The location of the placement is in a pretty normal town therefore there are a large degree of things to do outside of work. There is also an internal social club which organises things.
