    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed the variety of work, the people and the location. Couldn’t have pictured a better year. I was thrown straight into important work which made me feel valued and a part of the team. The culture In the London office was amazing and the people were truly a highlight of the year

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Extremely. I was worried going into this year that I would spend my time doing coffee runs and basic work. But within weeks I was hosting senior leaderships meetings and producing work of critical business value. Colleagues would come to me for guidance on technical matters and I felt truly valued madmen appreciated.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager did an outstanding job supporting me with anything I needed. From any task in my day to day job to helping find me training that could benefit me. He also let me spend time during the day working on extra curriculum activities in work and explore other work as part of other teams.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning it was certainly lighter however as the year went on it got crazier and crazier. It only me took a few weeks to get fully involved and with so much opportunity out there it’s really just a question of how much you want to. You’ll never be bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A great deal. Gsk truly values and trusts it’s placement students and treats us like any other member of the team. I was in charge of organising and hosting meetings with senior staff and VPs. I also helped deliver projects of critical value to the business. I felt very valued

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My soft skills were certainly developed much more than any hard skills. Hosting meetings and working with senior members of staff allowed me to develop skills I would not have gained through my degree. I was also able to work on my hard skills through training and technical projects in my day to day job.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Amazingly supportive and friendly

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Yeah was pretty smooth process although organising holiday with srg was painful

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A huge amount. I got my ITIL qualification which they paid for and costs eight hundred pounds. They also allowed me to take time off my day job to do project management training which is amazing. Certainly gained a lot of experience and training in comparison to friends at other companies.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I’d love to come back purely because of the location and work culture in the office. However I think I’m going to look for something more technical. As gsk doesn’t offer too many technical software roles, something I’ve got my heart set on. The pay and bonsues aren’t too shabby either

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • No not at all

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is of course expensive but I enjoyed treating myself to the amazing cocktail bars and clubs the city has to offer. Such as sky garden and shushi samba. The food and endless stuff to do I’m londom is amazing and worth the price, it isn’t of course however not cheap.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not one for clubbing but the cocktail bar scene in London is second to none. It’s outstanding and was so much Fun to explore. Again it’s not cheap but certainly worth it. The weekends out I’m london certainly made the year for me alongside my work and the people I worked with.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really

    2/5
